GETTING DIRTY IN THE GAME

Greetings in Jesus:

How we live becomes an issue when we accept Jesus as the Lord of our lives not so much because we have to do anything to change our lives; but because of the expectations of the world around us.  There is a great deal of difference in the person who believes they love a sport, but never play the game themselves, and someone who love the game because they are involved in playing it.

There are spectators and there are players in most any of life's activities, but when it comes to spiritual matters it becomes much harder for us to sort out the difference between the two types of people at just a glance.  Both lay claim to loving something, and yet only one shows any ability to get better consistently...that is the ones who are actually one the field of play.

1 Peter 4:8-11 " Above all, love each other deeply because love covers a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use which ever gift he has received to serve others, faith administering God's grace in various forms. If anyone speaks he should do it as though he is speaking the very words of God.  If anyone serves he should do it with the strength God provides so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory forever and ever Amen."

In these very words are found the instructions on how to change your life from that of a spectator to one of a player in the game.  In Christ we are required to get involved in the dirty parts of others lives before a difference can be made.  I find that those who stand at a distance and speak God's word are very unlikely to get any one's attention in a positive way.  I think we are all guilty of trying to do that at some point because we are trying not to get dirty.  Most people don't want to go play a game of rugby in a three piece suit, but sometimes it becomes necessary to get involved more so than to look good.

It has become very important for me personally to be a player who may well look haggard and rough than than for me to stay high on some shelf...all polished and clean for others to see.  I may look ok, but I am of no real use unless I am used by God to score points.  This week lets all get involved in the actual work of God through our lives instead of just talking about doing something...let us do something.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
