BEFORE YOUR FEET HIT THE FLOOR

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

Before we do anything in our day when we wake up we should be making contact with God.  I believe that is is essential that we as Christians start our day by talking to the Father about what is in our hearts and minds before we start a day of activity.

It is this single act that allows us to get a clear perspective on what wen face in a day.  It allows us to come into contact with truth before we come into contact with sin.  Jesus taught us to pray always and to keep ourselves in front of God the Father for power and mercy in a day that could well be filled with difficulty.  Each day we live in this world there is a growing chance that we will be cornered by hate and discouragement that will come simply out of nowhere to engulf us.  The need for us to be firmly planted in God hand on a daily basis will be the one thing that determines our safety and peace of mind throughout our encounters with the world around us.

I start my day out with a prayer before my feet hit the floor in each morning I wake.  For me there are times when I lay there for quite a while before I get up because of all that has been on my heart over night.  Actually those things that bother us in our sleep need to be cleansed and dealt with before we start to fight against the day ahead.  Our relationship with our spouse or our friendships are all under the attitudes that we carry out of the door with us in a morning.  Before my coffee, and before I start any kind of routine I have found that prayer and conversation with God is a priority.  I find it does me no good to offer up a list of things that I want God to do for me in the mornings unless I have spent some time simply in conversation with Him.  That is what I mean by prayer...conversation with God instead of a wrought  list of things we think we need...and while that list may always end up being a part of our conversation it does not have to be the focus.  Prayer is our way of telling God our heart and our desires and our feeling of appreciation toward what He has already done for us.  I love to use the Lord's prayer as an example of the way I approach my prayer {Not a word for word recitation)  but a guideline of the kinds of things to discuss with the Father.  I fear that we may no longer know what God wants in our conversations with Him, and that alone is frightening to me.  Dear ones we need to have power within our lives everyday, and that comes from simply staying in touch with God.

I know a great many of us are prayer warrior's, and yet we still need to teach others that simple truth about what prayer means in our lives...it is simply the most awesome part of our heritage in Christ; to be able to speak with the Father personally, and without fear.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
