ENCOURAGEMENT
There are simply so many things that need to said to the heart of men that need to be said in the right way...in a way that truly reaches them and makes us think about the real important things of this life. The problem is in finding the right words to use to reach various people with the message they need to hear.
The one thing that we need more than anything else in this life in order to continue to stand for Christ is encouragement. Some people are bored by how deep I get into things so I will try to keep this simple Joshua 1:9 tells us to be strong and courageous; which tells me that we should not be fearful to jump into Christ with both feet. Acts 20:2 tells us to speak words of encouragement to one another. When ever we see a situation where we can give encouragement we should do so Romans 12:8. The word of God is indeed our letters from home that we need to be able to go to in these times of fear and turmoil. Romans 15:4 teaches us that the scripture is filled with encouragement. We draw our strength from one another when we see how the prayers of the church lifts a person up out of a dark place. 2 Corinthians 7:13 says that by all of these kinds of things we are encouraged...I know I have been during my own illness. This weekend I am planning to deliver a message to the church that is needed on encouragement that takes a different kind of step. You see our ideas of encouragement have been mostly lead by our own decisions as to what encouragement is, but it should be based upon our imitation of Christ Philippians 2:1. We don't need just physical encouragement, but eternal encouragement 2 Thessalonians 2:16. We know that love for one another has great joy and encouragement Philemon 1:7, but it is not just the love alone; but the obedience to God's word that gives us an eternal encouragement Hebrews 12:5. We need to start to interact to one another through all of the fruits of the Spirit we are given peace, joy long suffering, for all of these things are the encouragements from God who has already given us all of the tools to work with that we need...we just need to use them.
Everyday of my life I rise to be encouraged by what I see at the Gathering in Two Rivers because I am seeing a small group of people who are slowly forming a bond with one another that is based upon the word of God and the solid teaching of God's Spirit. We get a God simple ; not church complicated approach to the Gospel of Christ that is easily understood by all...I am encouraged by that because what we hear comes directly from the heart. We have taken an approach in the study of the word that we have followed over the last 3 years that has shown us without any doubt that we have not been in this ministry to build a church, but to grow Christian believers to the point they can stand on their own two feet spiritually...and I think that is much more important than numbers. The basis of our work has been done through the guidance and leadership of God's Holy Spirit, and now all we need to do is to continue to build upon that foundation...and that gives me great encouragement! May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
