THE GOODNESS OF MAN

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

No man is good on his own, and that seems to be the point that we don't want to hear when it comes to dealing with the sinful state we are in.  The problem goes much deeper than just being unable to find a perfected state that man can achieve; it is also the realization that not even the Christian can ever be good on his own.

Jesus has already told us that God the Father is the only goodness found in life, and the only one who is righteous enough to make the call of judgment on others.  The believer's very life must still come from his relationship with Christ alone 2 Corinthians 5:21  The bible tells us that  without Christ man is corrupt and filthy just like the world around him Philippians 3:9.  No matter what our intent is as men we cannot do good as God does...there is no one who does good, no; not one Psalms 14:3.

If we know the problems is in our ability to be good on our own then why do we constantly try to get around having a relationship with Christ that will take away that blemish?  I can remember when I was a small child and how it felt to have no problem or worries about what I would have to do for my safety, or what I would eat for lunch because all of that kind of thing was provided for me by my father and my mother.  From time to time I have wished so much that I could go back again to that place in time when I did not have to be concerned about life around me, and I could just explore life and the gifts that God had given me to develop and fine hone.  Have you ever thought " If I only knew then when I was small the things that I know now, how different my life would have been".  In many ways God in His wisdom and love has provided us with a way to have that childhood all over again with those same freedoms by excepting Jesus Christ into our lives on an everyday basis.  I say " On an everyday basis" because I believe that is a part of our daily sacrifice as a living sacrifice to Christ.  We have to re-commit each and everyday of our lives if we are to keep in mind the promises not only that God has made to us , but those which we have made in turn to Him.

Jesus has spoken on several occasions about the need for us to come unto Him as little Children Mark 10: 15-16.  Very often we are much like the rich young ruler found in the verses that follow  who feel they have done enough through the simple acceptance of Christ one time, and  then have failed to continue to live each day afterwards for Him as well.  There will no doubt be many who will walk away saddened indeed to find a true commitment to God means so much more than that...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
