USING YOUR FAITH /Predator or PREY?

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

Over my many years now of sharing God's word I have found many who approach the sharing of their faith in Christ more as a chance to go into combat than to be an example of what it should be to live for Christ.  Now there is sometimes a fine line to be drawn between standing up to the things we see as evil in this world and demonstrating what it means to share or faith.  Most of the time when we find ourselves in the heat of the moment we can get caught up in our own human emotions, and when that happens we demonstrate who we are as people, but not what we should be as Christians.

Every so often I get the sense that some people are so determined to go out and make someone follow Christ that they forget the fact that is is not our job to make others believe, and it is not our job to make a better argument than does this world about why people should follow Christ.  Our job very simply is to give testimony and witness as to what Christ has done for our lives personally, and then to allow God's Spirit to bare witness to the truth of what we say through the lives we live.  Jesus Himself said it very well when He made the statement " I am sending you out like lambs to be slaughtered"; because more than anything else in our lives we are viewed by this world more like prey than we ever have been as predators.

We come across as predators some times with the ways we use the scripture to pound out the doctrinal things we have been taught. Some times those teachings end up hurting our witness with others more than helping us display Christ in our lives. While we may well want to defined ourselves from the slings and the arrows of this world's hatred many times all it does is push others away from us.  It is the gentleness and meekness of heart that this world cannot stand because it cannot understand the nature that is God within us as His children.  Anything this world does not understand is feared, but in many ways and at various times we are prey to this world no matter how strong we are.  That becomes the point where we can allow God to shine through us to those in this world.  It is when they can see our strength and also see our willingness to lay down our strength and our very lives for God's use to love another person or forgive someone who can potentially do harm to things we love.  The question must be then are we willing to become those who are willing sacrifices for this world to find God?  Are we willing to take the beating that the world has focused for someone else, and are we willing to become the prey that distracts the enemy from someone else so they can escape  damnation?  Have you ever thought about this? May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
