WHEN I AM AFRAID I WILL TRUST IN YOU

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

Psalms 56:3 gives us a real message about the conditioning of our faith in America in that we do not turn to Christ because we have grown unafraid of the situations that surround us.

That is an attitude that has some very lethal complications that come with it.  When we grow unafraid of any situation we tend to underestimate  the dangers that can be there.  Being over confident of ourselves can lead to great disasters.  The church in America is right now in the middle of some of the worst kinds of over confidence I have ever seen in denying the true power of our enemy in Christ.  I believe that we need to have a good healthy dose of fear of the enemy of God because at least in part that fear drives us to trust our Lord even more than we would if we were too confident.

For everyone of us it is in times when we have been over run with fears and doubts that we tend to turn to God the most for help...it is when we begin to realize how weak and futile our efforts to do any real battles are when we are alone that we ask God for help.  We need fear in our lives to keep our senses sharp and our position in this situation centered where it needs to be.  I say all of the time that we need to be humbled enough to stay with Christ for our protection and security.  Jesus is more than just a friend; He should be our guide , our Lord, and our Savior as well for if He isn't those last things...then He isn't our friend and our buddy either.  We are not on equal terms with God. We need to learn to fear God again in the ways that the first church feared Him.  We don't seem to respect or have an awe of the power of God today, and that fact makes us act very foolish spiritually most of the time.  We no longer seem to fear the fact that at any time we can be snuffed out like bugs at His displeasure in us.  In many ways I would like to see God calling down His power and displeasure on some who have gotten so out of control with their defiance of God's perfect justice.  That day of judgment will come upon all of us suddenly, and without any warning, and at that time we will see the final declaration of God's perfect wrath as well as we are seeing Him hold back right now as so many shake their puny little fingers in God's face in defiance of His Lordship over them.  We have already been given eternal life, and quite frankly that already scares me enough when I think of perhaps spending that eternal life in the displeasure and wrath of an all powerful God.  As evil and terrifying as I have seen how men can be in punishment I don't want to know how much more terrifying an eternity could be with living out an eternity in an inescapable punishment created for each person just as was life, and what it is that you most fear 24/7, and forever more. I pray that I would never loose my fear of God or the absolute awe of what He can do both in salvation and in punishment...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
