WHAT IS THE REAL TRUTH BEHIND HEALING?
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
There is much said about healing in evangelistic circles where the gifts of God's Spirit are sought and physical healing is a huge part of the doctrine taught. Mostly I believe that people concentrate upon the physical parts of healing from God instead of the real and important parts of healing the spirit of men.
As I begin to look at this issue of healing and all of the hype that surrounds it I see an issue develop for those who are said to look for healing from God. For some the real issue is faith either on the side of those who seek healing; calling on such things as not having the faith of a grain of mustard seed...but I also see much lack in faith of those who supposedly preach this doctrine. For the most part it is easy to go through the motions while all the time having a completely different agenda...and that is gaining recognition within the body of Christ that you have either received a touch from God personally or that you are the one person that God will use for such miracles. Either way this puts you more so than God in the spot light, and that makes me always skeptical.
God does not do anything without a reason...and while in some cases God may take pity and have mercy to heal the body of someone I have never seen Him do so without a true motive of increasing faith in those who witnessed it through a great influx of the word of God being spread, and believers strengthened to bear great fruit of the Spirit of God afterward. Jesus did not heal someone on a whim...He used each opportunity to show case the truth of the message that He had been given by the Father to show that He was indeed sent by God, and was the Messiah. In every case mentioned there were always others converted because of the miracle they had seen, and a great up-whirling of faith and strength that came from it. I believe that God's Spirit still uses people to work these kinds of Gifts of the Spirit today, but I don't believe that He will do that kind of work in the midst of a people who count it as just another trick. I highly doubt that too many people in this culture can or would be able to handle that kind of fame among their piers. I say that only because I believe the heart of men is desperately wicked just as the word tells us it is. God will not through out healing's or any other miracles to a people who will not heed God's word or take seriously the truth behind that word.
In places where men and women will still listen to God's word, and take seriously the Gifts that God freely gives the believer who has the faith to use those gifts of the Spirit; they happen even today...but it is not for entertainment and it is not to play with.
