IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE CHURCH
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
In the beginning was the church, and the church was with God, and the church was in God, and then something happened... men took control of the church and it began to fail.
That seems to be the kind of theme that we see everywhere we look when men take control of something good. In a huge way we are trying to turn that around, in that we want to give the control back to God's Holy Spirit in each thing we do. Among the very first things that we each one must do is to recognize the true ownership of everything that we have in our possession should go to God with us as His servants. We have been given stewardship over what we say we own, but the real ownership is God's. When ever we are called on to love or help another person in Christ we should be asking" what do you want for me to do Lord?"
We have a very false sense of things today that must be an " In your Face" insult to God at all times when it comes to sharing what He has given us to use and to work with in His name to help others and to show His love to people. I have personally struggled for a long time to understand this amazing difference in attitude and service in Christ, but it has been there all along...we have just been too blinded by SELF to see it! If we come back to the very first chapter of the book of ACTS 1: we see a true picture of the church as it was meant to be. They were tuned into the word of Jesus Christ their Savior in a very real way. They didn't have 40 different commentaries out to find our how to love one another as they love themselves. In our heart we all know the meaning of these things from Christ and yet we still search for something that fits us better.
When we deal with the idea of everyone being of the same mind and heart it should be easy to the reason they were of the same mind and heart is that they had given themselves to Jesus teachings and to the power of the Holy Spirit within them. It will be hard to do what we are called to do...which is to wake up the Bride of Christ from her slumber, but I know that God can do all things through anyone that He chooses to pick up and use in this age.
I am determined that we are going to look more closely at the true church this year than we ever have in the past. This coming week we will be delving into many of the basic things that caused the first church to be who they are " Real Children of God" May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
