PURGING FROM WITHIN
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
One of the things that we don't understand about God; at least from man's perspective is why would He want to purge some people from a group and bring others into that same group? Once again this does not have anything to do with the quality of people involved or in the depth of spirit that people have, but it it does often mean that God is looking and working toward the right mix of people to use together for His glory. It can mean that He intends to take people people who have never before been on fire for Him through His Spirit at work in their lives and make them a vital part of a ministry either right where they are or to a different location where they can be used mightily. It may mean that for some the calling of their heart is not the same as is that of the rest of the ministry, and because of that they may be a hindrance to the growth and development of what God wants to do there.
The one thing that I have grown enough to understand is that God should be in charge of any and all growth in a community. In our church there has been a purging of people much in the same way the first church went through a change; or purging of it's people. The one thing that I do look forward to seeing is the perfection of the Spirit of people as God puts those together who are suited for working together in His Spirit. That list of people may not be at all whom you would have chosen to work together or to grow closer to one another, and God in His great wisdom and perfection knows those whose hearts are right to be placed together. Likeness of heart and mind toward God's word and His purpose for us is extremely important. It is God who perfects us, and causes us to bear fruit of the Spirit within the body of Christ...it is that same Spirit that sorts out one from another to cause the best in preparation, growth and development before fruit is ever seen. I am excited to be a part of this mission effort through God's Holy Spirit at work in the Gathering.
When we see small groups of people being drawn together by God's Spirit it will not be long before there will be great evidence of Spiritual fruit being brought forth. Today we are seeing more small groups of believers developing rather than large churches exploding as in years past. There is a reason for that, and it deals directly with trust in sharing faith. From the beginning the true believers did not simply accept anyone who walked through their doors because it was not meant to be a social club, but a family in Christ that could be trusted. They knew one another because they had seen first hand the fruit that was born in that persons life through their relationship in Jesus Christ. This kind of trust and love is what we are striving for in the Gathering ministries. It is my prayer that as this year continues to develop we will also see God's Spirit begin to draw others together who can be family in the same ways the first church was. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
