LETTING THE HOLY SPIRIT DO HIS WORK

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

Some of the most regrettable things I have ever felt in my live have revolved around missing chances to pray either for or with people.  I don't know about you , but God often has me pray with people about situations, but it is those times when I feel that I am being called to do that and perhaps I don't listen that bother me the most...especially if something happens in that persons life that prayer could have helped.

The first church had a very good handle on the idea of praying for one another when they saw someone.  Very few times did they meet anyone without at least offering a prayer to be said before they departed. I have kind of gotten out of the habit of doing that this last year, but I want to get back into that habit because of a tremendous need for all of us to stay centered in Christ as this world gets more and more influenced by the enemy of God.  I recently wrote a note on Face Book about prayer and the need for us to pray with Faith as we ask God for help in things, but just getting back into a habit of prayer is extremely important to us...how can we ever pray in faith if we loose the desire to pray at all?  The facts are that it takes work to stay in touch with God...it is not an automatic thing for us.  In that effort is the need for faith and belief in God and in His word to us, and without that faith and belief we are just saying words.

For a great many people today it has become too much work to be sincere and truthful about what is in their heart.  They try to fake it for a time, but unlike the world that joins an organization just to get the benefits we are called on to be honest with ourselves and with God; who already knows the truth anyway about what is in our hearts.  Just like the man who prayed " Lord I believe...help my unbelief" we must realize that we won't ever be as complete as we let others believe we are...we all have trouble too.  In fact most Christians have a lot more trouble with allowing God to really have control over their lives than they let on.  Prayer is a very good place to start in allowing God to have control.  Go over the words of the Lord's prayer in your mind and think about the ways you have been praying now for the last few years...does it line up with what Jesus taught us?  I am not talking about  memorizing that prayer and just saying those words, but rather think about the content of what that prayer tells you.  We let self get in the way of giving God the respect and worship He so richly deserves.  We need to let the Holy Spirit within us do the talking for a change as we communicate and love God the Father.  Our lives will be rich with peace and understanding of what it is to love as we do this more often.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
