A MESSAGE WITH POWER BEHIND IT
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
There is no greater calling than that being able to speak in God's name with a message that calls the attention of those whom God has chosen to hear it . The hard part is in not knowing who if anyone is responding to that message. When Peter spoke to the people that God chose to hear his message it was not Peter's words that had power, but it was the presence of God's Holy Spirit in what was said that mattered.
Like the prophets and the messengers of the Old Testament our message must first come through us from God before it can have any real meaning to the world around us. In the first church's response to persecution we find no great defense defense put together by the Apostles except for the truth. Their words were not elegant, but the power within them came from an authority within them that could not be denied. We have long advocated that any ministry that we should perform in the name of Christ should actually come from Christ within us and not from our own desires to serve God.
Any power that anyone has to move people to listen to God's voice must come from God, and not from us. That is a very hard lesson for anyone to understand or be real sensitive to because of our natural tendency toward control as men and women. It is hard for us to get rid of self so much that we don't even claim control over that which has always been ours in life. Our speech or thoughts are all to be subjected to God's control for it is His ministry through us that really changes our power, and nothing at all of ourselves. I began to learn that truth more as I saw the ways Jesus was preparing the disciples when He sent them out for the first time. The instructions were simple in dealing with people...find someone who welcomes you, and stay with them. Do not bring anything extra with you...do not try to prepare what you are going to say to people, but let the Holy Spirit speak directly through you to them. There is so much more that will said about that thought in the coming weeks, but I want for you to know that our first duty is to be centered in God's will for our lives. Do not try to be something that God has not designed you to be, but let Him use you in your own way. He has promised that your dedication and subjection to His will and word will never come back void. It always amazes me how some of the things God has said through me have been things that I myself didn't think were all that much...yet they struck a nerve for some people at the right time. My desire is that we can begin to allow God the control over us once more that He ha with those of the first church, and that we might see God's power at work among us once more. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
