LIVING IN A CROOKED HOUSE
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
Recently I heard a story of a man who lived inside a crooked house...nothing was really straight the walls, windows ceiling and floors were all strangely off kilter. If you were to place a ball on the floor it would roll all over the place seemingly by itself and change directions along the way as though it had a mind of its own. At first the man was very irritated about living with this problem...but it time he grew used to it so much that living in this environment became something of a pleasure. The man literally lived in a world within his house that was uniquely his own, and the longer he lived in the house the more things he began to pick up from that environment that seemed very strange and quite eccentric to those who he worked with and lived along side of in the world in general.
In the book of Revelation 3:14-20 Jesus confronted a church who had become accustomed to it's crooked spirituality. In fact they had grown to enjoy the inconsistencies with what God's word was telling them. Laodicea was a very wealthy church which meant as far as the world is concerned they could be independent from everyone else following their own codes and ethics so any inconsistencies with God's word could simply become written in as their own ways of doing things ignoring the failure to comply with the laws of God's word. There are many who have simply stated " we don't need Jesus type of Spirituality". As long as they stay safely within their crooked little world they may feel safe...it is only when they come back out into the reality of truth created all around them that there becomes a sense of many things being off.
There are many who have taken to writing their own scriptures to follow, or creeds and doctrines that within their own eyes make them feel separated and superior to all others. In truth these thing while they do separate them from others also separate them from God's purpose and will. In many places within the world today we can find people who are trying to rewrite the truth to fit some kind of crooked value they have picked up on that makes them feel special. The more they cling to that doctrine or creed the less unity can be found through the power of the Holy Spirit. This can be seen and felt in a huge way in most cases, and yet those who are involved can't see how crooked things really are unless they step outside of the environment for any period of time. This world is filled with imperfections with a world full of people trying to make what they do fit in with what they know the truth is...or at least disguise it enough to fool everyone else, but we will never find the truth outside of God's word and Spirit. We cannot find that sweet fellowship with God unless we let God into the picture. Even more so than just letting God into the picture...let Him be the one to run the camera...may you richly bless God through your life in Him...
