THE IMPORTANCE OF THINGS

God has tried to give us peace from the beginning of our creation as Mankind, and yet we still crave more. In that way, we have become very much like Lucifer was in wanting to increase self-desires and ego by possessing things.
This seems to be a way to soothe the fact that we of ourselves cannot really create anything at all on our own; but rather continue to discover what God has already created. In a gut-level way, it takes away our importance and makes us realize just how infinite God really is in comparison. I find it interesting how when we come right down to it man does not seem interested at all in God's glory, but only in the esteem that we can give ourselves. It also makes me realize just how important it has been for God to re-create us in the form of mankind so that He could get to the real truth behind self-will and how easy it is to corrupt a creature with self-will to go against God.
A few points need to be made in all of this. 1. We can not find a relationship with God through the things of this world. Jesus told us how hard it is for someone with great riches to feel the need for God in life. I am reminded of the richman and the Camel, and the Camel having the greater advantage to enter through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter into Heaven. Something happens to us when we have things around us than we can see, and I believe it happens to us spiritually. For some reason, we become closed off to the truth out of a sense of control, and yet we are told in no uncertain terms that we cannot serve two masters at the same time. When things become a distraction to us we lose sight of the fact that when we are in Christ we stand to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. It is we who must become the "Light of the World and the Salt of the Earth". That is because without those of us who have become that light and salt from Heaven in this world there could very soon be no contact to be made with those who are left here.
In Romans 1:6 that we are included among all the Gentiles who have been called to belong to Jesus Christ. We have been called by God to the place we are in right now for a Holy purpose, and to be a Holy people. Paul says that we are invited to belong to Christ by belonging to God's family. There isn't any part of that which is easy especially when we are also clinging to things that we are trying to claim as our own in a way of complete possession. We have not been created to own anything here because when we die from this existence we can never take any of what we claim to own with us except that which is spiritual in nature. It makes me sad in a way to see people start to cling to the things of this world only to have all they have claimed to possess ripped away at their death to this world. We physically bound to this world, but certainly not spiritually bound to it unless we make that choice to be. In Romans 1: Paul starts by calling himself a slave to Christ Jesus and an Apostle ( one who is sent). It was difficult for any Roman to be looked on as a slave, and it is today very difficult for those of our society to look at themselves as belonging to someone other than self. It is only those of us who can humble themselves enough to accept and love God enough for what He has already done for us to be able to receive that promise. The promise is made only to those who shopw they can trust and love God completely. I trust that you are one such person...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
