GROWING OUT OF THE ROCK

Greetings in Jesus:

I find that it becoming more unusual to find preachers and teachers who will try to keep their subjects as close as possible to the original foundations of Christ's establish message as possible.

It is easy for those who have written and spoken for years about life in Christ to feel that we should all know the basics of God's GOOD NEWS message well enough to always be able to apply it to their lives, but I believe that in many cases that may be a mistake.  We tend to find people coming into the conversation we are having about Christ mid-way into the subject matter, and having to pretend that they understand the whole conversation.  In many ways it becomes human nature to not want someone else think we are not knowledgeable about a subject, therefore, we pretend that we are familiar with a book or information as someone else speaks about principals or ideas they have read about with us when we do not have a clue as to what they are really talking about.  We struggle sometimes to keep up with a conversation but end up becoming much like the Corinthians Church who should have been grown spiritually but still needed to be taught the basics of the foundations of Christ's message to them.

These foundations are more than just occasionally hearing a Jesus loves you the message, it involves the deeper digging into how those simple things in Christ affect our lives as we continue to walk in them daily.  Sometimes we think it is impossible to plant seeds in some of the soils we may find, but I can't help but remember the strength of a picture I once saw of a rose growing out of a sidewalk on a concrete street.  The soil may well be harder than we could ever penetrate and yet nothing is impossible for the power of God's Spirit.  The hardest of hearts can be changed by the everyday actions we may take to simply give God glory in our lives.  There may well be a good reason for God to ask for you to grow out of the rock of the foundations of His word to you.  He knows the strength that He has placed within the seed of your life, and He knows the power of the witness that you can have in Christ just by letting His Spirit have His way with you.  Our life here becomes a battleground as soon as we accept Jesus Christ as Lord, and although we cannot prevent the enemy from declaring war on us we can secure protection from the slings and arrows that fly our way.

There are times when I feel like I am living in a soup bowl filled with slime and sin, but the difference is that I have a bubble of protection called Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior around me. Our life surrounding will not change dramatically when we receive Christ and yet it is our choices in what we will want to have around us that we continue to change.  That is the genesis of the spiritual growth that we will see in our life.  It is that which will cause and affect our lives to change in a way that will ultimately secure our lives for all eternity.  Before the sun set on us today I pray that we will attach our lives firmly to the rock and start to grow roots that will penetrate our daily life with the Spirit of the living God.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
