FINDING A REASON FOR WRITING YOUR STORY / Chapter 4
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
There are many things that could be said here. This is where the volumes of self-help books come from some very dedicated and well-meaning people of God, and it is also where it is so easy for anyone following the direct teachings of Christ to have to fight the hardest to not get set off on some rabbit hole tangent.
For everyone who claims Christ as their Savior, there is a very simple set of rules to follow. It starts by understanding the purposes for why Jesus did what He did so completely that we can then understand the simplest reasons for what we are supposed to be doing as well. The first thing that we must understand about Jesus purpose for even coming as our Savior was that it was not to automatically save this world...it was to give us the good news that God had decided to make a new covenant with mankind; that is what THE GOOD NEWS was all about! Secondly, Jesus was sent to be our sacrifice for the original sin. This sacrifice broke the bondage of sin in that through our taking Christ as our Savior we might have an open door between God us to develop a relationship with God's Spirit. When we read scripture in a true context we will find that all of the other add-ons that are taught by their brand of Christianity simply fall short of the truth. Once we can understand that basic truth we can then begin to understand as well what the reasons are for our own story being important not only to our personal relationship with God but for those around us as well. There is really only one way to really live Christ out in front of this world, and that is to show people how Christ has changed your life or has ruled your life now.
While it is good to give witness and testimony to Jesus as our Savior it is even more important to be able to show that transformation on a daily basis throughout our lives. The only ways we can be effective in doing that is through the process of Mentoring. I can tell you that this process is not supported by this world in any way. In order to do this, we must get involved with each one whom God leads us to. It can be a long and dirty process because we must show people how to live Christ out in life, not just tell them. since we cannot cut corners or do this very easily we are likely not able to change a great number of lives at a time, but the quality of what we can teach goes much deeper than by using a shotgun method of preaching just words. I am sure we have all heard the saying " The only Bible that most people will ever read is your life" but that statement is so true! Jesus only took twelve to really personally mentor, even though there were thousands who were touched by His ministry. Our calling is simple in that we are to be witnesses to who Jesus Christ is as the Son of God, and to what He has done for our lives. We do that through demonstration of what it is to have a life changed by Christ, and it is done in real time right in front of other people. It is a complete commitment to Christ and a total commitment to loving someone else as much as we love ourselves. Mentoring is an art form that is learned through our consistent relationship with Jesus Christ. No one can pick it up through simply reading a book on the topic. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
