WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A SEED PLANTED?
Greetings in Jesus:
For a great many people today who are in church regularly we hear about the seed of the Gospel being planted by us for those who are living in the world, and yet I get the feeling that there are of your conversion just as many who don't yet understand that they are also seeds that have been planted somewhere by someone else before they made their decision to follow Christ.
There are many people who are walking around today who claim Jesus as Lord and yet who have no real testimony to share about the time they either made their choice or what they heard from someone else that started them to think about that relationship with Christ in their life. I would like to take a few moments to think about what our role is as a seed once planted, and what we should expect to happen as we start to grow in Christ.
One of the main things that should take place in this process is a realization that we are in need of Jesus as our Savior. The truth is that we speak a lot about our belief in Christ as the Son of God as though it is the only thing that we must confess, but that realization is only the start. Even Satan and the demons believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and that belief is based on a first-hand experience. Your personal belief in Christ as the Son of God must also be based on a first -hand experience in Jesus as the Lord of your life by coming to Him and asking forgiveness for your sin and accepting Him as Lord because that is the only way that you can ever have a testimony of salvation. My question to you then is " Can you think back to a time when you made such a choice?" Have you ever shared that choice and story with anyone else?
I want you to see that before you can really start to grow in Christ you must first acknowledge Him in your life openly to others, and you need to be able to share your story with them. By that, I don't mean to just go up to anyone on the street and start to tell them about how you met Jesus Christ; although you could, but I mean to use your story in a way that can help someone even within the church to know you a little better by perhaps exchanging stories of that decision. The fact is that we need to start to share the experiences we have had with God in our everyday lives instead of keeping things to ourselves. The reason is that there are many other seeds out there which have been planted which need your story in order to find that experience with Christ. Usually it does not take some great dramatic story to bring someone who has been planted to life, but rather someone just like you who is a real person, but who has found that supernatural experience in Jesus; someone who has gone from believing that He is the Son of God to someone who has experienced what He can do for your life through His Lordship in your life.
We are not the ones who show forth strength or power, but rather it becomes the Spirit of God running through us who should be shown to this world. We may well be weak and small in stature, but the power that is with us is mighty and will always be with us. Even the smallest of seeds that of the mustard seed can become strong and mighty when it is allowed to grow. I pray that we can all grow and realize that we all started as small seeds planted by someone who loves God. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
