THE AUTHORITY OF MAN
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
We have been given authority over all of God's creation Genesis 1:26 and yet we have given that authority over to almost anyone who may make a claim for it. There are a few who are chosen for Greatness by God like we find in Genesis 18:16-19 but for the great majority of us any kind of recognition does not come easily. When we are young we rebel against any kind of authority as we try to stretch our wings and fly in this world. While there are a few who in their youth become good leaders of men it is still rare. My mind goes to Joseph and his fairness toward the Egyptians Genesis 47:13-26 but that kind of leadership came through first of all humbling himself before God.
We must all be very careful who we allow to lead us in our faith walk with the Father. We cannot use our own minds and hearts to guide us in this age because everything has become so dangerous that everywhere we turn there can be a disaster waiting for us.
I believe that God wants for us to succeed, but in the same way Joseph humbled himself before God to be trained in the ways he should go; so do we need to be humbled. We have all been called to some form of leadership when it comes to sharing the Gospel of Christ. Our witness of what God has done for us puts us in that role of teaching another about the beauty and peace that God can give to life. God has freely given the opportunity to receive freely the gift of Salvation. It is an impartial to receive and yet very expensive to give...it is much like love in that way.
God wants for man to have authority and yet we continue to give all authority away to those who deceive and plot against us. The real power of this world has been handed over to the enemy which is why we are persecuted as Christians. We have allowed the godless people to take the positions which hold power of decision, and we are seeing more what that brings in our society. God has chosen what mankind has viewed as the foolish things of life to promote the word of God. Things like preaching , teaching, and witnessing to what God has given to us to use in drawing men unto Him. Our real authority is in lifting up the Son of the living God so that His Spirit might draw all men unto Himself.
Our job is never ending in that everyday of our lives from the time we accept Jesus until our death in this world we are called on to be God's authority while we are here. Our reward has already been given which is eternal life...we just need to realize that and begin to hold on to the reality of it. Just like the roots of a tree that grows deeper into God we also grow stronger on the surface of this life as the storms pass by and blow at us and beat on us. We will be tested and we will be persecuted by this world, but we will also be given the strength to withstand this life and its enemies. All that we are as Christians are a reflection of God's Superior love and power over this creation. It is my prayer that we will begin to relate that to one another in that same love that He has so freely given to us. It is our time to give now to one another as He has to us...it is expensive and not easy to love in spite of the hate of this life around us, but He did, and so can we. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
