COMPETING IN CHRIST

Greetings in Jesus:

Instead of holding to one another and being unified in Christ we some how have taken on the idea of competing by trying out do the churches down the street.  Some how the nature of man comes out when we compete with one another to see who can be the best in the eyes of this world.

In its simple form that is the wisdom of men, and it always leads those who follow it to destruction.  We justify this by trying to make the church into a booming business that grows just like any other corporation would, and unless the business grows every year and produces more money in the bank than it had last year we are not successful in the eyes of the world or within our own eyes.  The reason is that we are not thinking with a spiritual mind.  We say that is not necessarily bad...just a personal preference, but when we start to divide ourselves into different groups that are at war with one another over the same Savior it becomes not only wrong but sinful.

We may  tend to listen more to our own interpretations of what scripture means and what God says than to the Son of God who gave the original message.  We say that we are the only true way to believe, but there is only one way to believe and that is as simple as a small child believing what their father tells them so why do we have to complicate it? In an effort to make ourselves look better to a world that does not like us to start with we set fights against one another to prove a point of personal view instead of being correct in God's Spirit.  Instead of being shining examples to this world of what it is to serve and love God we have become beacons of division for Satan to use to destroy our witness in this world.

Some of us have cried out for God to show us the way by asking Him to strike this world with His power ; and others have used quiet  reverence to respect God until they have fallen asleep in prayer.  Some have chosen doctrines that have been written by men and women of great faith, but have ended up following the doctrines rather than Christ.  All this time the enemy of God has spent his time enjoying the widening gap between us what should have been family members until the gap became so wide and we became so unwilling to even speak to one another about our faith that there was total division...and a house that is divided against itself cannot stand long.  For many of us our testimonies became so confusing than they were powerful.  Our ability to allow God Lordship over us so that things could be straightened out were non existent because of the pride, conceit and many other sins that had come in by that time within our midst to keep us apart.  We found that we were no longer that pipeline from God to the world around us; and we dared to wonder why God would say " depart from me for I never knew you".

This can be a very sobering thought when we realize that God is still involved in raising up various ministries that are true to His original plan of Salvation without playing church.  I pray that you are among them...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
