THE NATURE OF THE UNITY
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
Recently I have been looking through materials within my library, and I ran across some rather interesting materials on the nature of how we are both united in the mind of God.
There are many areas where God has referred to us as body parts who in someway consider themselves to be a complete and whole body. I don't believe we can ever be successful in pulling off that kind of scam on this world, but if we look around us we see the ridiculous attempts being made to do so all around us. Most of these references to body parts are made within the old testament. Within the old testament we can find something said about almost every conceivable body part as linked to some action of worship or obedience to God.
When the new covenant was made with mankind much of those references to body parts were left alone, and a new direction was focused upon, and that was the inner person...the parts of us that we cannot see and yet continue to control the operations of most of the body parts we do see. I am talking about such things as the Old self, New Self, the human mind, the human conscience, and the human will. These are all of the things that we do the most battle with. Romans 6: tells us that our old self has been crucified with Christ so that the body of sin might be done away with. The idea is that we are no longer slaves to sin. Ephesians 4: that we have been taught with regard to our former way of life to put off our old self, and Collations 3: tells us not to lie to one another since we have taken off our old self, and old practices.
God is concentrating on our new role, or new self which in His words in Ephesians 2: abolishes the old flesh with the old laws and regulations with a purpose to create within himself a new creature. Ephesians 4: tells us that we are to put on that new self which has been created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. The human mind needs to be changed from it's old way of thinking. In Luke 24: Jesus opened up the minds of the Apostles so they could understand scriptures. In our minds there are two things that can happen; both are controlled by our active will: We can either be given over to the thoughts of our flesh and of the world which we live in Romans 1: or we can begin to see that the real war that rages within us is not physical but spiritual which continues to make us a prisoner of this flesh. This battle as discribed in Romans 7: by Paul is the key to changing our minds and hearts. Romans 12: tells us not to be conformed to that way of thinking, but to be transfomed by the renewing of our mind and heart.
There is so much to be said about this inner man that it will take me another blog to cover it all. In the next edition I will cover areas of the human conscience and the human will. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
