BEING LOST AT HOME
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
Over the last few days my mind has been on "The Prodigal Son" Luke 15:11-32, but as you might imagine God's Spirit has been dealing within me from a different angle than the normal thoughts on the father welcoming his son home and forgiving him for his indiscretions.
My thoughts have been on "home" before the son left. The discontent and the attitudes that drew him away from home in the first place had to be so much that he could no longer see any way but to leave. I believe there are many Christians today unsatisfied with their home in Christ, and who have become unsettled with who they are in Christ.
Many of these people know enough to stand for their faith in Christ Jesus and yet they search for a deeper kind of relationship...one that has more power, and more substance than they are getting in their home church. It is these who begin to wander off from time to time looking around for something better in some way than what they have. If they stray too far they will take their inheritance with them and search for a message that makes them feel better ...that tickles their ears with just the right words and ideas until they no longer have the base principals of Christ intact, and their faith springs a leak. When that happens their whole life begins to leak away from them, and in many cases they begin to revert back into the world again. "Are they lost "? you might ask...NO but they are wretched and depleted people who are desperately in need of humbling themselves again to the father and ask that He make them a servant; for they are no longer deserving of being an heir in their own mind. Many of these people have lost much including the ability to forgive self even though they are told that God has forgiven them.
Many of these people are in a lost state now where they cannot be forgiven mainly because they cannot forgive, and they cannot understand or see their way back home. I can't help but wonder how many of us are in that state of mind and heart right now....people who want peace of mind and heart, but they can no longer find it. Is it because along the way you have been hurt by something and you cannot forgive? You too might be among the prodigal sons who are seeking God their own way.
How about the relationships with those whom you have broken with in the past, and who stayed behind? can you no longer find the right hand of fellowship based upon those relationships? Those people are equally in need of forgiving you and you them for any hurt feelings, and is your job to love at all costs just as it is theirs. My friens it is much easier to be lost at home than we may think it is. We really don't have to rebel to be lost to God's Spirit...all we have to do is walk away for a time. I pray that you will be able to sense that truth today. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
