LESS OF SELF AND MORE OF GOD

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

We may go through  quite a lot of things in life as we seek the answers to our physical and spiritual combinations, but the fact is we need to be seeking more of God and less of the self that we seek in the mirror.  We are designed to do marvelous things, and to be able to conceive the depths of God's Spirit only through allowing God to once again be that part of what inspires us.  In a great many ways just like Jesus declared Himself we cannot do anything without first the Spirit lead us.  I am very inclined to believe that includes the miracles that were performed by Jesus Christ, and that leads me to believe that without the indwelling and the filling of the Holy Spirit in us we will not be able to claim any of the gifts of the Holy Spirit at work in us either.

I really love the concept behind a song "Empty Me"...in it the verse states "Empty me of me so I can be filled with you" which is the exact point that Christ Jesus was trying to make to the disciples who could not cast out demons.  The idea that God has for us to completely exchange this life for one much better.  God is looking for a faith and trust in His promises to us that allows us to give to Him the benefit of any remaining doubt concerning life , and death here and now and our future with God.  The is no doubt that this gets very serious as we are asked to lay everything that we have in this life on the line to believe in God whom we have never seen.  " Blessed are they who have believed" that is God's promise to us who have made the choice to cling to God in the face of all that world is throwing at us.  There is so much more involved in the simple truth " We need to believe in God", and while that truth never changes taking that simple first step toward  God in faith is enough to start our life with God it is still only the very beginning and not an ending in itself.  There is so much more of Christ to experience in this life if we just seek after Him.  Paul said it so well when he wrote "when I was a child I spoke, and acted like a child, but when I became a man I put away childish things".

While we are called on to love God as His own child we are also called on to grow up!  We have a responsibility to grow into accountable and mature children.  So many of us try to remain babies all of our spiritual lives so that we have no responsibility to take on in the Kingdom of God, but it is our obedience that becomes the most difficult thing to deal with because of self will.  It has taken me many years to become obedient enough to even consider myself grown up at all in Christ...and I still don't listen the way that I should.

The big difference now for me is that now I try to own my responsibility of knowing that I am not obeying, and my own heart is close enough to God to be convicted of it without God having to spank me or correct me.  I am still not mature in His eyes anymore than our own kids would ever be considered completely mature in our own eyes.  When we begin that journey of growing in Christ we will begin a battle unlike anything that we have ever before known.  You might ask why?  One of the reasons is that we will no longer have any control over some of the spiritual powers that we may be introduced to.  It may well be unlike anything we have ever battled before in this physical world, and quite frankly we will probably not know what to do.  As hard as we may try to don't think we will ever be able to link this human condition into God's spiritual desire for us. Just as God has told over and over again " we will hate one and love the other; or despise one and cling to the other" and that means that at some point a clear choice must be made.  I pray that you will make the right one...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
