IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
We mostly think of mankind as the newest part of God's creation, but how ever or new we are spiritually is not known to us other than that we existed before we were ever physically born. We were created spiritually first, and it is that part of our creation that was designed to live forever.
What is so confusing is our understanding of these bodies that we walk around in because the body that we walk around in has a very specific purpose as well. We are so consumed in the worry we have about our physical bodies that we end up ignoring ourselves as a complete creature. The fact remains that we are spiritual being first, and then we have been put into a physical body. If we look closely at the ways we are made , we like Jesus existed before we came to an earthly form. Think of that...God created Himself in a fleshly body for our sake. I started to think about this in relationship to the studies of soil that we have had recently. This physical form that we have was created to only last for a time and then return to it's original form...dust. Genesis 3:19 " you were made from dust and you will return to dust".
When I begin to look at this aspect of our lives; the physical part of us I don't see a great deal of respect or awe given by God to the body, and I have to ask the question WHY? When I think about that from God's point of view it must be because God only thinks of our body as a container that houses us within it for a short while while He finds some things out about us. The reason that I want to explore this thought line is because we need to know more about who we are as a person. We need to take the time to understand who and what we are spiritually as well as what this physical carton we are in is for. I have always thought that we are created with so much more than we have ever realized in this physical life, and yet because of the restrains we have within this body we are so limited.
That limitation is for a reason. If you will consider the tremendous capabilities that we have in creating thoughts and emotions; our gifts at being deceitful and manipulative with one another, and even with that the cost of loosing in a physical sense being so great.
If we really knew the truth about ourselves would we be honest if we knew all the consequences and all of the benefits involved in choosing God? I think that is one of the reasons that God intends to keep us in the dark about some of our true background. We are created to be so much more than we appear to be. In fact that is why our loyalty is so important to God the Father. I don't believe that God held back anything in our creation spiritually, but at the same time He needed to know our loyalty was to Him and for the right reasons. The power that is given to us is so much greater but if we were unleashed with that kind of power without the simple transformation of our mind and heart toward the mind of Christ living within us the results could very easily be turned into a nightmare. That kind of power and will must be controlled very carefully until God can be sure of us. I think that may also be the reason for God allowing our minds and hearts to be tested here and now the ways that they are, and while we are bound to these physical bodies. I believe that within a life time He can know us and the intent of our hearts pretty well. What better way to find out the truth about someone who may claim to love them than to test that love without them knowing what is really going on? Place the spiritual being in a body, limit their memory, and power so that they cannot hurt themselves or anyone else, and place them on top of the prison that you have already created for your enemies, and then then test their true character of love and desire for you.
The only ways of finding out the truth through the gift of self will it to test them, and their willingness to believe in what you tell them. There may well be a huge attrition rate of those who will never come to God, but He will be assured to have a perfect Kingdom in the end. He will have those who love Him, believe in Him, and want Him for all time, and He will never have to question them again. As we deal with the idea of weeds and harvest this week I would like for you to think a little more deeply about what we have discussed here and now. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
