REALIZING OUR NEED FOR SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE

GREETINGS IN THE NAME OF JESUS:

Far too often we are put on a course of having to convince others that we know more than we really do.  That can lead us into a compromise of being deceitful not only with others but with ourselves as well.  When we come to know Jesus as our Lord and Savior we are given a new and eternal gift of God's Holy Spirit.  That gift and personality of God Himself abides within us from that point and depending on the soil that the word of God grows in we may be given to read and study the word so much that we may seem knowledgeable very quickly.  Knowledge is however not wisdom, and the Holy Spirit is there to help us discern the various interpretations that men have of scripture and allow us to compare what God is saying with what men are teaching to be the truth.

In truth, it really shouldn't take too long to see the truth if we will compare the actual words of scripture with these various teachings, but for the most part, mankind, in general, will take the easiest way by just taking someone's word for it rather than doing the footwork for themselves. As I commented earlier we have a tendency to try to appear to understand or be at least familiar with almost everything we hear today so that we don't come across as dumb in some way, but God has designed us spiritually to grow by taking in the word of God in it's most simple  ways so that we can test that word for our own lives.  It isn't just the knowledge that we need, but the experience as well of being able to test God's word for our lives and then having the experience of being able to gain trust in that word.
I believe we will find that Christianity is not as quick and easy as it is advertised to be by mainstream theology today.  We don't turn God off and on like a light switch, and we cannot have all that we need to know through one standard group of bible study classes.  Our Christian experience is much like the experiences we have had going from the classroom where we study about a job we are going to do and then doing the job in real time situations.  There will always be things that come up that we don't immediately have the answers for, and that is why we have God's Spirit residing within us.

For a great many of us, we seem to have left the continued presence of the Holy Spirit behind us as we have sought to grow in Christ somehow on our own.  When we stop to think about that we can see how it never could work.  I say these things so that we all might be made aware of our tendency to paint ourselves in a corner when it comes to our growth in Christ.  We need to have accountability to one another and to the truth of God's Spirit dwelling within us.  I praise God for all of you who come to share in God Spiritual wisdom.  You continue to be in my prayers day and night.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
