CREATED IN THE IMAGE OF GOD (what does that mean?)
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
We hear the term ( created in the image of God) used a great deal today in many articles and books written about mankind's' relationship with God. We, both man and woman have been created in the likeness of God. Since God is a Spiritual being we were first created in that image. There isn't much written down about that first creation of us as spiritual beings, and yet we know that each of us has existed before we ever were born as a human being because it is said that God knows us extremely well...so well in fact that He has numbered each hair on our heads. He knew us before we were placed in our mother's wombs.
With that creation having already been made there has to be a reason for God continuing to create as He has all that we see and then the new formation of mankind as a physical being? That reason is also very clear and needs to be emphasized even more in the churches today rather than being skipped over as we have in the past. One of the things that we have gotten wrong is that it is not our physical form that is created in God's image, but rather our initial creation in a spiritual form that was created in His image. I believe that is why we so often miss the whole point of why we are here now.
Everything that I read of Christ indicates that He descended into this world and came to us in a lower form as a man so that He might minister to us and give us a Good News from the Father about the plan of Salvation. Having said that, there are so many things that we have been missing when it comes to our present purpose here. 1. We are created as mankind to make some kind of decision and commitment to God so that He can trust us. We have been very limited in our understanding of what all of this is because if we knew all that is going on we would most certainly choose God out of fear of what we know. We cannot see the spiritual realm for much the same reason...I sometimes feel for my poor little dog who is often frightened by what she may see going on around me from time to time. She looks intently at times into the corner of the room as though there is something terrifying that is watching us. Those are times when I sometimes wish she could talk, but enough is actually said when she comes and wants to cuddle with me for protection.
The likeness we share with God was not touched by the downfall of mankind therefore because we did not disturb that likeness. Weare still the same creative, moral, and reasoning creatures we ever were; it is just that our hearts intent has been contaminated by sin, and as long as we remain in this condition we will remain in some form of sin. We can go through a massive amount of theology in the discussion of the downfall of mankind, and sin, but when God made us in this state He weakened each of us to the point that we are hardly the same created beings we were originally meant to be.
God had to take that step because He has alluded to in His word He could not afford to unleash the same kind of deceit ever again in the Spiritual realm. God needs to know where our allegiance is before we are unleashed in the Kingdom of Heaven. There is another interesting part of creation that we need to realize here. That is that the earth was already here when creation started as we know it in the form of a mass and a void. It was actually created first of all as a prison to hold the fallen angels
What we know as creation was created on the top of what already existed, which was very smart because the only one who is leaving this prison are those who are loyal to God in the intent of their hearts. God will simply open up the prison doors to reveal the true nature of what lays underneath our feet even right now. It becomes very important to us to know the truth about God's intentions toward this dying and decaying place we call Earth. The creation around us is beautiful, and it is to help us to live out the best we can in this place until Christ returns, but it is a part of the trip, and not the final destination. I just pray that we can begin to understand that as we prepare for the truth to be revealed to this world during the time of Tribulation. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
