WHO IS THE GREATEST AMONG US?

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

In the book of  Matthew 9:33-37 Jesus deals with a question that arose among the disciples about who was the greatest among them.  " They came to Capernaum. When He was in the house He asked them, "what were you arguing about on the road? but they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest.  Sitting down, Jesus calls the Twelve and said: " If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last and the servant of all. He took a little child and had him stand among them. Taking him in His arms He said to them; " whoever welcomes one of these little children In my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me , but the one who sent me".

God has put a great emphasis upon our coming to Him with a pure and innocent intent of heart. On several occasions we find Jesus referring to the need for us to approach our love for God like a small child would approach a parent that they trusted in completely.  The innocent attitude that is needed as if we were a small child goes even further when we consider that God has also told us to become a servant truly to all others before ourselves.  If we would be at all great in the Kingdom of Heaven we must first of all learn how to love as God has loved us, and then to put that love into practice in our daily lives.

I believe with all of my heart that God is looking for those who can learn how to love as He has loved.  I don't believe that we have to be perfect in this life or never to have failed in any way, but we must learn to love the way God loves.  The reference  Jesus gives to little children deals with the intent of that love not being about a hidden agenda like so many adults have, but rather of the purest kind of love...a kindd of love that is given without the need to be repaid.  It is that pure love for loves sake that God is looking for in us as His children.  It is that pure form of spiritual love that can be made perfect through the Spirit of God dwelling within us.  That is the kind of love that God longs for  within His Kingdom, and it is  the only kind of love that will be received by the Father in return for His perfect love that has been already given for  us.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
