SERIOUS THOUGHTS ON THE BLOOD OF JESUS
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
The blood of Jesus has been on my mind lately as a subject for us to consider this week. This is another topic that isn't really discussed much within the Church body lately...say the last ten years or so I have not heard much about Christ suffering on the cross and in particular the suffering He went through before He was crucified.
Just lately I have had a difficult time sleeping because of thoughts coming to my mind that frankly causes me much discomfort. These thoughts are ranging from be headings to all kinds of martyrdom for the cause of Christ to the very event of Christ's suffering and Crucifixion for our sake's..and what I have found is that these thoughts are coming up to me to be used as a stirring of my soul to be as pointed as I possibly can to what this blood sacrifice means to us.
When I begin to think back from the very beginning of our scripture where both Cain and Able gave sacrifices to God it was the blood sacrifice that Able gave that was accepted by God over the more grain sacrifice of Cain. We find that down through history God has always demanded a life giving sacrifice over that of a passive type of sacrifice. The reason being is that God wants our very life to be involved with Him, and not just our ideals or lip service to Him. One of my greatest fears today is that we have begun to bring forth a sacrifice to God like that of Cain, and then react in the very same ways that he did when it is rejected by God. We tend to turn our violence toward or brother instead of finding out what more we can do to please God.
As I lay awake at night I begin to see images like the one I drew for you today and I wonder if we ever really understand that Christ should have died from the terrible beating that He took before He was crucified? The fact that He not only endured that but walked the distance to Golgotha carrying the very cross He was crucified on shows how much God needs our own living sacrifice to become real to God before He is willing to show forth His Spiritual power within our lives. I know so many people today who have gotten into the habit of playing church and giving only a minimal amount of lip service as they can toward the cause of Christ yet still call themselves a follower of Jesus.
The truth is that God does demand all of who we are as a creation on a personal basis to be a part of that living sacrifice. Paul even told the early church to stop complaining about harsh conditions because they had not yet even suffered unto blood! I gues the question then must be for all of us
"How far are you willing to go for your belief that Jesus is the Son of the Living God?" Perhaps it is the thought that should become closer to the surface of our conscious thoughts! May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
