SAFE IN HIS ARMS

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

Our lives  are mostly comprised of the experiences that we have in this life.  The things that drive us to do certain things even those things that we do in ministry are often because of what we have experienced, or what we have had happen to someone close to us that has effected our life.

This piece was commissioned by some very dear friends of ours in the Heavens Gate Ministries and it is meant to depict Christ emotion as He holds us in His arms from the terrible deceit and pain of addictions.  Our lives are riddled with these addictions even though we may not be made aware of it.  Drug addiction is only one form of addictions in a long list of things that we are quickly growing to accept in our society as a normal part of modern culture.  These things take away our will to live and be productive in Christ, and they slowly destroy our life and our witness to what we claim to believe. I would not want for anyone to fall victim to  any of these perceived threats, and yet everyday we do without even being aware of it.

The addictions that I refer to are not seen as addictions to the world, but are down played as habits that we have allowed to get ourselves attached to, but which also disable us from functioning spiritually.  Different things like the Apathy that we develop toward right and wrong in our midst, or the habits and addictive behavior of pornography in our society among both men and women today.

It becomes a real problem when we let someone else do our thinking, reading and study for us, and then simply accept what ever comes from our in trusted sources.  The problem is that we are finding out that those sources of information and truth that we have always had have been largely paid or bought of in some way to slant things toward another point of view from what the actual real truth is.
That in itself has become yet another addiction to deal with, and one which is most deceitful and harmful to us.  There is an answer however, which is found in the drawing itself.  We must run to the arms of Jesus Christ and allow ourselves to trust in His love completely.  As old as I am I still find it is hard to trust in someone whom you have never had any real contact with; and that is especially true if you have had a limited contact with Jesus Christ.  The only way to to it is to begin to trust God with the small things in life and as He proves Himself real and true to you then begin to givethat trust back to Him in more things within your life.  It won't be long before you will be able to see that God is who He has always said He was in both word and in character.  Think about those things that have had you addicted to them, and then allow yourself to trust God.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
