LET THERE BE NO DIVISION AMONG YOU

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

In this world of trouble  it has become time for the people of faith to agree in the Lordship of Jesus Christ as our Savior...of course everyone of us will verbally agree to that, but what we refuse to do is live that declaration out in our lives.

1 Corinthians 1:10-17  has Paul speaking about how distant they had become from one another in their faith by following so many who claimed Christ.  It was not that the people whom they followed were wrong; it is that those who followed became divided against one another as they followed men instead of following Jesus Christ.  When I was much younger and in Bible college someone said "Whats in a name?" they were referring to what we all called ourselves and why that name was important to us.  I have always called myself a Christian believer because that is the basic definition of who I am as a person.  Others tend to allow themselves to be known by a denominational term like Baptist or Presbyterian or some other denominational name of believer, which I have always thought tended to separate us from one another.  Paul asked the basic same question of us when He said who do you follow? Who's name were you baptized under? Who's teachings do you follow?

It is easy for us to follow a teacher whom we may feel has a good hold on what God's word really is saying, and who can make that word become clear to our hearts, but we must remember who it is that we are called to follow.  Today there is a wide spectrum of teachers out there who are specializing on certain areas of our faith by concentrating on a particular part of God's word.  It almost feels as though they think they have graduated past the need for the basic word of God and the salvation message and now they are in the deep waters of the mystery that no one else can seem to understand.  I can tell you my friends when we start to get into that state we can be easily fooled.  It is easy for us go off on some trail that leads to information that does not help us in any way to spread the good news of Christ.

As I look around me today I can see how the church has become specialized in a certain part of God's word while leaving the real meat of the message God has given us alone. I can see that division in the church effecting us more everyday.  The one thing at this point that we need more than anything else is to become solid in who it is we are following and what the message is that we deem to be most important to us.  That message remains Jesus Christ and Him crucified for us.  We may well not agree on many different things in the various teachings from church to church, but we at least should know that.  It is that word to us that unites us and cannot be broken unless we allow ourselves to follow another other than Christ...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.

THE UNWORTHY SERVANT
