THE TWO WAYS...only one works
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
There are currently two schools of thought with regard to salvation; one where we are in charge of what happens, when and where, and the other of complete surrender to the purpose and the cause of Jesus Christ within us. In the first there is a clear goal in mind of trying to please God by our own good works and deeds. This makes us feel as though we have had some part to play in the process of our salvation. It tends to mean that we play a role in the practice, and diligent service; discipline, and obedience in hope of getting a reward from God. The problem in this good honest effort through self determination is that we spin our wheels in this world, always trying to find some traction within ourselves to over come. We may have self motivation and self control, but we also have chronic guilt, apathy, depression, failure and we have a constant need for approval.
The true Salvation that is given to us as a free gift to accept is in the Faith we place in Jesus Christ as our Savior for what He has sacrificed for us. Jesus sacrifice opens the door for us to build upon a relationship with the Father by trusting in Christ and then living for God. This deals in a true confession of our faith in Christ, and submission, and commitment to the control of God's Spirit in our lives. We must realize that we of our own cannot please God because we continue to live in a sinful state in this world. God's Spirit protects us from that sinful mess by providing a kind of protective bubble, but we still get dirty. It becomes a situation where it is Christ's Spirit within me that does the good works and my life becomes lived in Christ , and not in self. It is because of that I can live a peaceful, joyful life that can be filled with thankfulness, love and guidance from God's Spirit because I have been forgiven.
My friends this sound so easy to the ear and yet it does require all of you given to God's complete control before you will ever even begin to grow in Christ. To receive Him is one thing, but to begin to grow into a mature child of God takes some work on your part too. I don't want for anyone to be confused about this...we are all called on to do all that we can toward study and a complete commitment to God. That is not easy because it takes our will to surrender to Him, and our commitment to obey Him as He does His ministry through us to the world around us. In many cases this becomes a very blind kind of faith walk that requires us to trust God even when we cannot see the way for ourselves. God does provide all that we need when we simply keep our eyes on Him. It is my prayer today that you will refresh your commitment to Jesus through His Spirit within you today. It is time that we all begin to grow up in Christ...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
