NEW LIFE, NEW NATURE, NEW FREEDOM
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
In Romans 6:1-16 Paul writes about the new life that we have been given through the sacrifice of Christ Jesus our Lord. The important thing for us to remember is that the power of sin over our lives has been broken and now we have the same opportunity to seek after God for a strong relationship as did Adam and Eve before sin.
While that is great news and it puts us at least on a level that we could never have hoped for before we still have the responsibility to take that opportunity to build a relationship with God. There are things that we as Christians should seek after in Christ that just never get taught in the churches today because of doctrines and creeds to control people . Some of these things include following Jesus in baptism, and the dedication of our lives to follow after Jesus in His teachings. There are many things that we can do to publicly show this world that we are following Christ like baptism that go a long way in helping us to really feel the power of God's Spirit in our lives. These things are not about receiving Christ as Savior but they are very much about allowing God's Spirit to continue to transform us into new creatures which are fit for the Kingdom of Heaven.
You see the act of baptism is actually burying your sin with Christ so that you can rise with Him in a new life altogether. It is an act of confidence that Jesus will do all that He has promised for your life, and it shows Him your determination to follow through with your promise in love to Him. When we do this it buries our sin loving nature with it and the Holy Spirit can begin His work in us. We are now no longer under our own control, but have given that control over to the Holy Spirit. This is called having a new nature, and we begin it by sharing Christ's new life within us. This is the only way that we can begin melding ourselves with God's nature. The Holy Spirit begins to show us the difference between the old sinful nature and the new nature that Christ has planted within us...we become alive in God.
Within this scripture is the admonition to give ourselves completely over to God as we begin to see how the power of sin has been broken away from us, and we are now free to choose God over this world. We will find that we have greater and more positive choices now with in Christ as we commit more of ourselves to the urging of the Holy Spirit to become one with the Father. We can actually break free from the bondage of sin that has held us so tightly to this world. Our creation is for the purpose of loving and worshiping God...as we begin to feel the effects of this new commitment to Christ we will no doubt also feel the freedom to choose who it is that we want to worship, and love. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
