HOLDING ON
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
Over the last week I have been going over some questions that those within our congregation have asked from their heart and off of the top of their heads. These questions are a real idea of what is on someones mind almost subconsciously, and they give me an idea of what people really want to deal with.
What I have found is some frustration because of a tremendous amount of pressure that is being built up in having to make a stand once and for all about beliefs we have always said we held , but which we were never before put on trial for. The ideas of what is good and evil are now so stark that they can not be denied any longer. We no longer have the option of not having an opinion because we are directly caught in the trap that has been created.
People are asking the question of what can I do? and the answer has always been the same. We find the teachings of Jesus in Mark 13 to be very disturbing because they deal with the end of time and the return of Christ to judge this world. That is because that time is so near and all of us can feel it coming. We can sense the time is drawing closer each moment and yet we freeze in fear instead of taking the action we need to get prepared to meet that day. God has already told us everything that we have needed to know concerning that day and time. It begins with John 3:16 with God's amazing love for us and weaves throughout the Gospels with His teachings about the New Covenant that God has made with us through Jesus. It continues with our obedience to the inspired words and teachings of the Apostles like Paul, Luke and Matthew as they describe the ways that our lives are shaped and developed through the growth of faith and personal experiences we have in Christ.
Our job is simple the live as though we are living under the new citizenship we have gained in the Kingdom even while we still live in this world. Our testimony is based upon what Christ does in our lives each and every day that we live here. We are not called on the take ground through war with this world...God has that war already won. The war does however effect us each day we live because it comes to us to wage within our own lives...people do see that and as they watch us fight within to hold on the the principals of Christ they can see the change within us. We do have to hold on however and never let go. We have to stand under the principalities and powers from spiritual places that would rule us and have dominion over us. We are no longer a part of this world even though we have to live in this world for a time. It is my prayer that we will sooner or later understand the need to be bonded together even more by the persecution of this world...that we would be of the same mind and heart, and find security in one anothers arms. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
