JESUS PRAYS FOR HIMSELF
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
JOHN 17:1-5 is the account and words of Jesus as He prayed for Himself to the Father just before He started the last parts of His ministry to us. It is not surprising that Jesus would call this period His glorification of God the Father, and ask that God might glorify Him through this act of submission.
God had given Jesus the authority to give eternal life to all whom God had given to Him. I think that is an interesting term to use when we consider all that Jesus has said about our part of belief and obedience to the commands given to us. Jesus said that "this is eternal life:that they may know you, the only God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." This tells me that only those who really get close enough to God to know the truth about who God is and who Jesus Christ really is will have eternal life. It sheds a great deal of light on those who have chosen to get stuck up in church doctrines which separate us from one another and do not allow us to learn either love as God has described it, or the unity of the Holy Spirit who has been set over allowing us to be one with one another as Jesus is one with God.
Jesus prayed to the Father that He had brought God the glory on earth by being obedient to and completing the work that He was sent to earth to do. Now Jesus asked that God would glorify Him in the same way that He had been glorified in God's presence when before the world began. It is interesting to me that Jesus used the terms "To all those that God had given to Him"...this is a term that indicates that God is very involved in those who remain trustworthy and obedient to the commands of Christ. Anyone who seeks after God and His word will find that spiritual power to stay close to Jesus through the power of His Spirit within them. There will be many however who will not stay as close as they could have stayed. Because of that there will be many who may well be disappointed on that day because of the casual ways they have dealt with God, and with His word to us. There is no doubt it is time to take God seriously as the things happen in this world taking place around us everyday. It is my personal prayer to God that those among us who have taken God very seriously would be able to still be that beacon of light that draws others to a closer and more meaningful walk with God. Our very lives and future depend on the ways we think these things through within our heart. we can not longer afford the time to wait and see if God is serious about what He said He would do...we can see it happening right before our eyes so it is time to wake up! May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
