HOW MUCH DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE?
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
For the last year or so I have been noticing a trend among Christians in almost all churches toward a form of faith in God rather than a complete faith. This is not a new trend among those who claim to believe in Christ as the Son of God because the effects of what a " Maybe so" belief has on anyone who is looking for answers in today's world gets to be real serious indeed.
In the last year we have been dealing with the teachings that Jesus Himself gave to us as foundations of our faith through Him in God the Father. These teachings we say that we believe in are those things which directly hold our lives together; not just because God said them but because we have supposedly taken the time to test these things out for our own lives. When "push comes to shove" in our lives I am seeing many people back away from those things they have said they believed in because of the pressure this world has brought to bare on them. We have not even had any kind of real persecution as yet in this country yet I see people backing into a corner so that they will not be exposed to any difficulty or perceived political incorrectness about their personal belief system. That frankly tells me that their idea of belief is false as far as God is concerned, and that those among us who have completely put our future into God's hands must begin to make choice based upon what we see happening around us.
I have been speaking and writing to you this year on the ideas of what it takes to get into a closer and more personal relationship with God, yet most continue to remain silent when it comes to expressing views of their personal relationship with God publicly. Don't you think it is time that we all get to the bottom of why that is in our lives? I can point to several areas that over the next few blogs I want to touch on. One of these deals with our own personal level of commitment and relationship with God. We have some very foolish and brainwashed people in this world who have begun to become blood thirsty killers in the name of a cause that promises nothing at all to them that I would consider wasting my time on...70 virgins? for what? If anything that is the worst kind of false control over your life that you could ever have. Do we want to be The Lord and master of our lives? If we do then we should be willing to deal with the consequences of what that means.
For most people at some point they come to realize that they are never the biggest or the strongest in this world. People learn that there are many out in this world who out perform them in almost every thing conceivable, and yet they still buy into someone telling them that unless they are #1 in this life they are nothing at all. This becomes the same logic that allows someone to think that they can throw all of the parts of a watch up in the air and watch as they fall together perfectly in place and the watch will begin to run on its own. Any logical mind knows that will not happen, and yet we dare to think it might happen for us because we will be that one instance where it works when everyone else in history has failed. We need desperately to come into focus with our faith in God, and what that should really mean to us instead of getting distracted by arguments that make no sense, and promises that are absolutely non existent.
Who among us today has any kind of real faith in God's word? It would be nice to see them stand up and make a statement that puts them on God's side for a change. People will not believe you because you say that you love them anymore than they will believe you when you tell them that God loves them; they need to be shown what that love is and what that love does to change a life. People need to see your testimony of how much God has loved you by how well you can love those whom God has called you to love. Do you dare to love in that way? Are you willing to let God love others through you in that way...in a way that is out of your own control? Think about that...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
