THE GOOD EYE

Greetings in Jesus:

When I think about how our eye works, and then do some research on it I find that the illustration that Jesus gave of the single eye and the evil eye is right on the mark.  The word for single is "aplous" meaning single folded or without a fold...it is an eye having no complications within itself.  An astigmatism is a structural defect of the eye so that the light rays do not converge to a point in the retina.  Once again light plays a factor in seeing, but in this case there is a complication within the makeup of the eye that creates a fold or a distortion so that things that are clear to those with no distortions can see easily , and those who have something blocking the light process cannot see clearly.

Matthew 6: 22-24 for what it is really is...the distorted influence of this world on our lives when we start to look for God.  Isn't it strange that as long as we don't try to find the truth or as long as we don't seek out peace in our hearts through God we will seemingly always be able to see clearly?  As soon as we begin to question what is set in front of us as to it's truth or lie in nature we get a tremendous onslaught of  negative feed back from this world.  That is because if we could see things clearly we would never choose evil, or apathy because we would be able to see clearly where it leads.  Our lives are not naturally guided toward choices where we can see clearly because of the nature of sin toward deceit and lie.  At best we have a very muddy view of what is going on around us at any given time.  That is why we must rely on a source of light and clarity that does not come from either us or this world.  Once again we need that single source of light and truth from God in order to gain a clear perspective, or a good eye.  We cannot afford to to be coaxed into a belief that truth is a variable thing...that there is no real truth because there is a truth which is God.  You will hear me proclaim that until my dying day.  Each one of these parables show us a new glimpse of the Kingdom of Heaven, and those glimpses are ever so slightly different and to the point of who we really are as people.  They are meant to allow us to look deeper within ourselves to find that truth that has been created within us that continues to call us back to itself.  Paul tells us that now as we are we are looking through a glass darkly...in other words we cannot see clearly all that we need to see before making a good choice; but then...he says " Face to face" we shall know as we are known.  My friends that cannot happen without the presence of God in us.  I hope that you can understand and realize that.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
