Understanding the Dragnet

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

The bible is filled with the warnings to us about not making a decision for Christ.  In the parable of the Dragnet Jesus plainly stated that everyone would be in the same boat, and we all would be caught in the same net which we could not get away from.  He then said that we would be separated according to those that in God's eyes were a part o the Kingdom of Heaven and those who were not.  It is at this point where people start trying to interject the wisdom of men by saying " But there must be something we are missing"!

I can tell you there is nothing that we are missing from that point because that is the final judgment.  There were several parables about this kind of thinking.  Jesus spoke another parable that spells out very well what God is looking for within us when He returns in  the book of Luke 13:6-9  It is about a man who had a fig tree and came to get fruit there was none, and so he told the workers in the vineyard to uproot it and burn it, but they pleaded with him to let them work with the tree a while and cultivate it so that when he came back it might bear fruit, and if it does not bear fruit then we will cut it down.  That is very much the same position that we are in with God right now.  As this chapter starts out Luke 13:1-5 Jesus was told about a group of Galileans whose blood was mixed with the blood of animals for a sacrifice for Pilate.  Jesus asked the people do you think that these who died were worse than any others  or that any one else who dies in a horrible death is somehow cursed above others?  Jesus said NO in fact unless you repent you will all perish.

Matthew 13:47-50 concerning the Dragnet is a simple reminder that when that time comes there will be no time left to choose, for unless we have made that choice, and began to bear fruit of the Spirit of God we will not enter into the Kingdom.  Let's look a little closer at the fig tree...there wasn't any reason for it to not bear fruit for it was like all of the other trees in the vineyard.  There was a reason for it not bearing fruit.  My question was the fruit being used some where else other than as a product for the owner?  Were the Gardner's eating the fruit of that tree?  It is not said; but the tree was not bearing fruit for the owner, and that is the point.  For those of us who have settled into a nice routine in our churches over say the last 20 years; this can be a real eye opener.  There are many perfectly good fig trees in our churches who are not bearing fruit...and what God is saying to you is " I will let you continue until I return, but if by then you have not born fruit you too will be cut down and destroyed along with the weeds and bramble I have cast into the fire."  It does not matter how well you fit in with the decor of  the rest of those who are bearing fruit  God is going to be looking for fruit of the Spirit from you as well.  It is time that we understood some of these simple instructions in preparing our hearts for His return. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
