GOD ASKS Why are you so dull of hearing?

Greetings in the name of Jesus our Lord and Savior:

There is a question that we need to answer before we can really hear the truth of what Jesus is saying to us in scripture...Why are we so dull?

Matthew 15:1-20 finds Jesus addressing some of the traditions written down that the Jews needed to abide by to be socially acceptable.  The idea of washing hands before eating is still an unspoken rule in this country handed down from the Jewish culture.  It makes perfect sense to do so from the stand point of germs and cleanliness, but that was not the point for Jesus.  He compared the very small detail of washing hands before eating with the very huge discrepancy of honoring their Father and Mother by diverting money or wealth that should be used to care for them to a private place through a loop hole law they created for themselves as a tradition.

In verse 8-9  Jesus said: " These people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. They worship me in vain, their teachings are but rules taught by men."  I believe those words hold very true for today's church as well when we really start to look closely at what is going on.  Once again we can see the truth of Jesus words coming through clearly to us as we look at the traditions that we as men and women have created to keep us comfortable and safe from having to deal with the main Spiritual problem we have in this country of spiritual unity in Christ.  We do not have the authority to add to or to take away from the gospel that has already been laid down for us by Christ.  We do not have the luxury to simply take for granted that everything we are told from a church pulpit is the truth.  We need study and we need fellowship with one another so that we can sort out the entire gospel of Christ instead of getting a Brand name of Christ that might be a fony as a three dollar bill.  The problem isn't with what we say we believe, but it is our hearts which allow us to ignore the truth that we must become united in our faith and our love for one another to become united with the Father...anything less than that is to worship God in vain because of our own worldly wisdom teaching rules of men.

Dear ones it is not easy to live for Christ Jesus because we are required to walk down that same pathway as He walked.  It is an unpopular way to go because the world cannot understand the path we take.  Most people will not see any sense at all in what we do, and yet God continues to take care of us.  Just like Jesus spoke in the parables we must have the spiritual ears to hear what God is trying to say to us today as the church.  I think we should all be concerned still about those who have come to sit and worship beside us each Sunday morning...are we all hearing everything or do we worship in vain?  I don't want to see those people disappointed do you?  In fact I don't want to see you disappointed on that day because you followed a tradition of men and not the truth from God's word to you.

May you richly bless God through your life in Him.

THE UNWORTHY SERVANT
