REACTIONS TO THE LOVE OF GOD
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
From the beginning of the parables in Matthew 13: which dealt with the seed and the sower Jesus has dealt in one way or the other with our reactions to God's love. He showed us the soils that the seed was planted in which dealt with the different kinds of hearts we have in receiving the word of God in our lives...some were good for Growth, and could bring forth a good harvest; some were hard and beaten down. They would need to be broken up and cultivated in order to become good soil. There were others who for various needed to be cleared away from all of the things that choked out their ability to understand what these parables really meant. These soils gave us the perfect concept of how we as mankind have reacted to the Plan of Salvation as it has been taught to us by the Son of God.
Jesus ; as it is accounted later from verse 53 until the end of the chapter was confronted by His own towns people was much distaste and anger that someone who had lived his life among them would make a claim to be the messiah. Their hearts were hardened with disbelief. I believe that should Jesus show up today on the door steps of many of the Churches that He would be just as rejected by them as He was in His own home town.
In general we do not want to hear the truth when it defies our own control, logic and comfort zone. We must realize that today the truth that Jesus gave from the beginning is just as unpopular as it was when He first preached it. Often instead of listening to the message today we see only the man who has been called on to deliver that message, but our job is to have an open heart to receive the truth and discern the truth from the lie through the Holy Spirit who dwells within each of us. Like it or not we continue to live out what God has personally already written. We are following the story written for us, and the truth within the story of mankind. God already knows the outcome, and He has already written everything out...all that is needed is for Him to sign His name at the bottom of the page. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
