THE PURPOSE OF GOD James 1:17-18
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
We are made physically to always get something out of everything we invest our time in. We often ask the question "What is in this for me?" when we look at any prospect or venture that we undertake in life and that is largely the case when we try to deal with God in our lives too. It must be the earth that is in us that cries out for some kind of gain to be had or some kind of gratification in what we do as we worship Christ Jesus.
James 1:16-18 says" Don't be deceived, dear brothers every good and perfect gifts from above, coming down from the Father of the Heavenly lights, who does not change like the swift shadows through the words of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all He created."
I had never really understood all that God has given me in return for my love and service until I sat down and thought about it. One of the things that I have realized is just how much God has given me in return for my personal loyalty and service, and it all comes from my being able to bear fruit for Him. You see by myself I might be able to build things and produce to a degree things in this world that look good and even impress others but it cannot get me close to the state of perfection I feel in the Spirit of God.
As Jesus pointed out; if I gain the whole world and still lose my own soul what does it profit me? The man who had gained all that his heart desired and to himself " Eat drink, and be merry" will still have his life required of him in the end, and then who's things will these things be then? We bring nothing of this world with us when we enter life, and we shall take nothing of this world with us when we leave. So what is it that satisfies your heart? What is it that you have loved and have been satisfied in doing? It is those things that become your payoff. It isn't hard to see the benefits of serving God as we lay up for ourselves those treasures that are not of this world.
Each one of us has a different purpose and calling in God's Spirit that we need to find and work in order to have a fulfilled life. As we connect with God and live in Him it is all that He has ever requested from us. That becomes God's purpose in our lives. It is my prayer that each of us can find that satisfaction that we all crave by working in and with God's Spirit to make our lives better and have the purpose we so desire. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
