OUR CONDITIONS OF FELLOWSHIP 1 John 2:3-27
I send greetings in the name our Lord and Savior Jesus:
We so often speak about fellowship in terms of getting together in a general social fashion. 1 John 2:3-27 has a great deal for us to consider on this subject, and with what we have been discussing lately it is important that we can grasp its meaning completely.
" We know that we have come to know Him if we are obedient to His commandments" This is the opening message that John gives his readers. It is the same message that we so desperately need to hear today because we are dealing with the same problem. " The man who says I know Him and yet does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him." I believe with all my heart that this is the case with most Christians today, and it is the reason for why God has to purge the church starting from within just as He did with the lies and deceit that Annanius and Sapphira had to deal with when they told that white lie to the Holy Spirit about their gift to the church.
My dear friends, we must recognize that God will not accept anything less than perfection from us at the time we enter into the Kingdom of Heaven "But if anyone obeys His words God's love is made complete in him; this is how we know we are in Him" God continues to tell us through those He has chosen to write down this message for us that we are perfected by the word that we allow into our hearts. John was saying that what he was writing to them was not something that was new to them, but a part of the law that had been with them from the beginning. It was a new commandment to them through Christ in that the That simple truth is that anyone who makes a claim to walk in the light and yet does not show that light through the way he treats and deals with others is a liar.
the darkness they had been living in was starting to pass, and the light from the truth that Jesus gave them was already shining.
This scripture continues to outline this kind of behavior in the church today as we tend to adopt the same carelessness of this world in dealing with spiritual issues. There is so much more to say on this topic that I will need to continue in this same passage of scripture in the next blog We cannot be in the world and in Christ together, and the harder we try to reconcile the two the further we will get from God. The true conditions of our fellowship is our obedience to the commands we are given by Christ Jesus. I pray that we can begin to understand the importance of these things even as we prepare for our worship time this week. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
