OUR DEALING WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT 1
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
THE HOLY SPIRIT: This is a subject that gets many Christians who would otherwise be able to fellowship at odds with one another. The workings and the gifts of the Holy Spirit are not something to be played with, and yet many people treat God's power within them like some kind of VooDoo rather than a spiritual part of their lives that brings both power and life. I want to start a discussion about why most Christians are so lacking in being filled with the Holy Spirit today. I am not talking about the gift of the Spirit of God living within us through our salvation, but rather the inner workings of God's Spirit within our lives. I want to begin with 1 John 2:15-17 " Do not love the world or anything in the world, if anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in Him. For everything in the world-the cravings of sinful man; the lust of the eyes, and the boasting of what he has and does-comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever".
Let us try to make something perfectly clear! Satan and all of the powers of darkness do not want any of us who have accepted Christ into our lives to ever gain the power of God's Spirit within us because if we ever did his entire game would be over! I believe with all of my heart that is why there is so much emphasis placed on the things of this world; upon the desires of mankind to possess for his own these things instead of having contentment in what God has provided that do not cost. It is our heart that becomes the real battlefield in this life. Romans 7:19-24 tells us about doing the things we don't want to do instead of the things we want to do because of the sin that is in us fighting against the nature of God within us. That is merely a description of what Paul was personally going through and yet it works the same way for all of us.
I have seen so many unhappy Christians who are not happy with themselves in Christ, and yet they do not understand why. Galatians 5:16-17 tells us to live in the Spirit of God for it drives away the sinful nature within us because the Spirit of God and the sinful nature of mankind are polar opposites from one another and they cannot exist in the same place. If we say we love Christ and yet continue to live by being driven to play the game of this world in the aspect of buy and sell to get gain and increase the stuff we have we will never feel or have the peace of the Holy Spirit feeling alive and in control of our lives. The enemy of God will do anything and everything to make sure that we never begin to taste the victory that we have in God's Spirit. Once we do we will never turn back no matter how strong the temptations may become. As we continue in this series of discussions I want to talk about why this battle in our hearts is so often lost. Stay with me in the power of His Spirit as we dig a little further. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
