OUR COMMITMENT TO CHRIST
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
It becomes important for us to understand what a true commitment to Christ should mean in our life. I don't think there are very many in the Church who really understand what they are saying when they accept Christ and the offer of Salvation. There is a true and complete transformation intended in our claim to follow Christ in our acceptance of Salvation that we are missing. The more the Holy Spirit guides me into a deeper relationship with God the more it bothers me that we are not getting the real issue of why God's Spirit is not at work in us.
It seems that we don't understand the meaning of the kind of commitment that God has told us we need in accepting salvation from sin.,and the filling of the Holy Spirit in our lives on a daily basis.
I believe the reason we cannot seem to do the will of God is that we have yet to surrender our will to His in this life. To be quite honest about it I am still in the process myself of learning the depth of commitment I must make in my life each day in order to be completely led by the Power of the Holy Spirit. It seems that our self will does much great harm in our daily walk with God when there is a constant pressure in this world to use that self will in a carnal nature. That is why Paul spoke as he did about " the things I want to do are the things I don't do and the things I don't want to do are the very things I do". It is not a natural thing for us as mankind to give away what makes us individuals. I look and marvel at the angels ability to to wait on God's word before acting, to praise without ceasing; and to not have any self identity except to be vessels of God's Spirit.
I can't help but to marvel at the depth of commitment that Jesus as a man had to make to God the Father through the power of the Holy Spirit to fulfill His mission as our sacrifice for sin for even though He was God, He was also flesh. God went through what we go through to show us that in the flesh it can be done, but only with the direct help and control of the Holy Spirit of our will. As Paul had written " We must become living sacrifices that are Holy, and acceptable to God, which is our reasonable service". The question that God asks is " what would you exchange for your soul?" The salvation that we have been given by God to make a choice at this time and this place is priceless! It shows that one last commitment that God has made to us as His creation even though we have failed to obey. How great should our level of commitment to Christ be? Especially when He has made such an offer to us. God told us to become Holy as He is Holy through the daily sacrifice of our life ( our will) to the Holy Spirit to do within us what God's will is instead of doing our own will in this life. Believe me when I say when we get right down to it there is much moore to living a Christian live than we are being taught today, and we should be very concerned about our personal level of commitment to Christ as well. Dear ones it is a daily struggle for me to be used as a voice in this age to teach and admonish you. It is difficult to wake each day and first give everything we are to Christ's will to be done in our day, but that is exactly what our death to this world means. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
