ESTABLISHING A TIME AND PLACE TO MEET WITH GOD
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
A meeting place is often a sign that we have made a commitment to someone. We certainly have a commitment to God on a daily basis to both meet and stay as close to Him as is possible. In almost every case we will hear Christian counselors say that a combination of reading the Bible and prayer is the answer to growth in the Spirit.
In the book of Acts 1: and 2: we see how the early Church spent a great deal of time in prayer and study under the Apostles teachings as they explained what the Holy Spirit was telling them from the teachings of Christ. Establishing a time and a place to meet God on a daily basis is a good starting point in your relationship with the Father because it shows Him a beginning commitment.
Our whole problem with trusting God stems from not taking the time to really know God. If we treated others the way we treat our supposed relationship with God we would soon find ourselves completely alone. Trust and relationships of any kind are built upon the connection we allow ourselves to have with another person. Our whole idea of trust is built upon the results we find in that communication. It is in the course of our commitment to continue to speak with and listen to someone that we can know if they lie or if they are truthful with us. God has asked us to test His word to us so that we might know the real truth about life and about our need to have a relationship with Him. Today, right now, God is asking us to continue to test the truth in His word to us.
Of course, the greatest problem is never if we can trust God's word to us, but can God trust our word to Him? You see this communication goes two ways because God is trying to determine whether or not we are trustworthy as well. The whole concept of why we are here in the first place is built upon God trying to find out if we really are capable of loving Him in return for what He has offered us as mankind. I think it is time that we start to read the fine print in God's contract with us in that the whole idea of our salvation is a two-way street because He not only has offered it but now we have to accept it and act upon it. You see the whole reason for this life we now live is built upon God's effort to find out if He can trust us?
For most of us, there is a daily, and moment to moment need for repentance for what we have done to cause God to not trust us. Deep within our heart, we all know that is true. Still, we need a plan to help us make our relationship better than it was yesterday. If you have grown lax on your commitment to give God a conscious time and place each day to meet and talk without distractions then you are not getting everything from that relationship that you can. It is time to change that. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
