THE TRUE FILLING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
Most of the people who read this blog are beginning to realize that I do not hold to the traditional views taught by today's churches about the workings of the Holy Spirit. If we keep Christ's words in the context we will find that He does desire all who are in Christ to be filled with the Holy Spirit, but not in the way of signs and wonders that people are looking for today. The factual outward sign of being filled with the Holy Spirit involves seeing a completely changed life from the old sinful nature to a new and transformed nature in Christ Jesus. Galatians 5:22-23 Shows us the stepstones of that outward transformation. We have many people teaching that the acquiring of these spiritual characteristics is the major goal of our lives, but that is simply not true. The main reason for us to even desire these things is to be able to draw others to Christ. John 15:8 reminds us in Jesus own words that it is to God's glory that we bear much spiritual fruit. In the Beatitudes found in Matthew 5:6 Jesus tells us " Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled". I believe that is a direct reference to being filled with the Holy Spirit, and that we must first hunger and thirst for being closer to God.
I believe that we are missing much of the sincerity as Christians that is needed today to have God active in our daily lives. Many people hold onto their belief by the skin of their teeth because they have not tapped into the desire to make the commitment to be close to God and to die to the influence of this world. Things must change for us as a redeemed people of God in a fallen world.
Romans 12:1-2 " Therefore brethren I urge you in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices; Holy acceptable to God which is your reasonable spiritual worship. Do not conform to the patterns of this world any longer, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is; His good and perfect will."
This change begins not with God's will, but with our will to commit to Him the very life we have been given in Christ. If we want to walk with God we must first commit ourselves to God from the purest intent of our heart. The Holy Spirit will fill you if you ask Him, but no one is going that far with their desire to see a change in their own life. It seems to me that we no longer hunger for His word in a way that we cause us to dive more deeply into what we have said we believe about God. If we look closely at the word that God inspired Paull to write here the reason God wants for us to be transformed is so we can test His word for ourselves and know without any doubt that His word is true. God does want us to know what His will is and how to see the truth through the eyes of His Spirit, and not be deceived by the world around us.
Dear ones it breaks God's heart to see us struggle so much with such a simple and straightforward truth. We can only correct this by no longer holding on to the things that have caused division among us. Let us stop following the ideas and doctrines of men and follow after the truth found only in the teachings of Christ alone. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
