HOW DOES THE HOLY SPIRIT WORK WITHIN US?
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
In the next several blogs we are going to deal with some touchy subjects that have divided Christians for a very long time. The work and the purpose of the Holy Spirit within our lives are absolutely vital to our growth. We cannot deny the filling and the work of the Holy Spirit within our lives without suffering the loss of a great deal of God's spiritual power, and yet the work of the Holy Spirit is not given to us as a toy to be controlled. Many seem to want the Holy Spirit to be used like a gift that is given to us upon request, but He is a part of the life force of God living within us that directly connects us to God as His tool to be used, not the other way around.
Many times we as mankind come off as prideful and arrogant as Lucifer when we consider the importance that the Father has put in us as His creation. That pride and desire to be our own boss comes out in so many ways that we are not even aware of it most of the time. When we consider the attitude change we must go through about being filled with the Holy Spirit in a special way of use to God it is first important that we go back to the original teachings of Christ when He said: " If you would be mine you must first take up your cross and follow me". To understand that fully we must go to the word that explains it. Romans 12:1-2 " Therefore I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, Holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship, Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is- His good pleasing and perfect will."
First, let's understand that God already has a perfect plan for His children. He wants for us to be transformed people with renewed minds who are living to honor and obey Him. God wants only what is best for us, and because He has given His Son to make our new lives possible.
Without the act of love given on God's part, we would not even be able to have these conversations about salvation Up to this point we are all on the same page...right? This is also the point where many people start to take scripture out of context and begin to use the idea of the Holy Spirit more as a tool to be used than a God to be obeyed. 1 John 5:14-15 are often used to prove a point about their position on using the gift of the Holy Spirit as a tool to pray for their own will to override illness or circumstance by praying down a miracle because God will hear his prayer. This is a case of taking God's word out of context to give credence to a man-made doctrine 1 John 5:14-15 " This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that if He hears us- whatever we ask we know that we have what we asked of Him."
We need to understand that the emphasis here is on God's will, not our will. When we communicate with God we don't demand what we want; rather we discuss with Him what He wants for us. If we align our prayers to His will He will listen, and we can be certain that if He listens He will give us a definite answer. I want to take much more time with this discussion so hang on to your shirts! May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
