TAKING THE TIME FOR MEDITATION

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

Meditation in our time with God is an essential element in our growth and in our trust of God's word  It may not seem like it would be at first, but I know that God through the power of the Holy Spirit needs time with us on this timeline of our lives as much as we need time with Him.

It becomes a tool that we both can use to reach deep inside of the other to connect parts of our emotions that help us to become one in our mind and heart with God.  I don't know about you but I have learned it is much easier  for me to be obedient to God if I can understand His reasoning for why He is asking me to do something, and I cannot do that if I can't think with the same mind and leading of the Spirit that God uses.

David in Psalms 5:3  sat aside a time in the morning to be with God and to make his requests of God, and then begin to use the rest of the day in meditation and waiting to hear from God.  It would seem like the idea of meditation is becoming a lost art form in Christ, but Jesus Himself had two characteristics that we need to follow in His devotional life according to Mark 1:35.  While it was still dark early in the morning Jesus got up and left the place He was staying and went off to a solitary place to pray.  Even for the Son of God, it was important that He not be interrupted in His time with the Holy Spirit in the Father.  This does not mean that we all need to devote those particular times frames to prayer because it was Jesus's schedule, but I think it does mean that we need to consider a similar mindset to our own meditational efforts.

When we consider the Lord's Prayer found in Matthew 6:9-13 I wonder if you have ever taken the time to try to put that prayer into your own words.  When we think about that sort of thing we are beginning to use meditation with scripture; that literally means we are trying to put our own heart into those words which is exactly what God's intentions were in showing us that prayer.  I think you should try to do that right after you finish with this blog today to see what the Holy Spirit is trying to tell you about meditation.

There is no greater way of communicating with our Heavenly Father than just sitting with Him quietly for a while and letting Him fill you and communicate through the creation He has made all around you.  There are so many voices that He uses to speak to us about the joy and goodness of what He has given to us, and once we begin to listen to those voices we will not be able to not hear them for the rest of that day.

God will use everything that is around you in sight and sound to talk with you in a day if you will only tune into what the Holy Spirit is saying to you.  We must start to seek His voice in our everyday lives for this to be of value to us.  It is my personal prayer that you would be able to see that message loud and clear as we go into the last parts of our day and our week.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
