THE IDEA OF BEING ONE WITH THE FATHER

Dearly beloved in Christ:

come to you not knowing what it is I need to say to you except for the words that God's Spirit puts within my mind as I write this to you.  I have been trying to allow God to use me in this way with every account of my life, and I find that the world is changing each moment that I allow God to take control of every thought, word, and action I take.  When we begin to allow Jesus Christ to actually live our lives the sense of what is important changes within us.  Where we once found it impossible to pray the urge that I have now to seek God at every turn is unbelievable compared to what it was only a short time ago.  I have found that the deepest parts of faith and belief within me have never really been touched before this, and I know that if I continue to walk in the light that is shown to me that my faith may well grow enough to ask God for things that seem impossible to men, but that has always been possible with God.

Recently I was reading through the book of John at chapters 14:-15 when I read the words of Jesus to His disciples concerning being one with Him as He is one in the Father.  " I and the Father are one," Jesus said, and then He asked them to be one with Him as He is one with the Father.  What Jesus told us in those few verses with John was that the Father expects us to become one as the body of Christ, and as the Bride for which He has paid such a great price to have as His own.  God knows our chances of any kind of perfection are not within our ability, and yet we are asked to constantly strive toward those goals for it is not the outside achievements that count but it is the intent of our heart that causes spiritual growth and maturity.  It is that combination of heart's desire and effort to obey Him out of the love that places us into a spiritual position to love God with our whole heart and not with just the praise of words on a Sunday morning service.

It was Jesus who showed us the way to conduct our lives after we have accepted Him as Lord and Savior.  He rose early in the mornings it is said to give praise and Glory to the Father for what would happen in His life that day.  Jesus directed the will of the Holy Spirit to work directly through Him in each moment of each day, and then He gave control over what was done in that moment to the power of God's Spirit within Him to do the work; and to say the words  of God's message to the world around Him that had purposefully been drawn to Him to hear that message given by the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said many times that He could do nothing without the power of God's Holy Spirit, and neither can we.  It is important that we realize that Jesus not only taught us through His words but also through His daily actions what God requires from our lives.  Jesus gave us a complete picture of what it means to be one with the Father through His daily activities.  God's Kingdom continues to be a Kingdom of perfection, and we will never be able to be perfect while we are here.  The only type of perfection that can be given to God is a pure heart before Him.  We do that through learning the things that He tries to teach us.  It is my prayer that we as a church body will soon begin to understand that the life of Jesus Christ is a complete example of what it is to be one with the Father.  The example goes far beyond the words of the Lords Prayer and digs deep into what it means to really become a living sacrifice that is Holy and acceptable unto God the Father.
May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
