I HAVE A DREAM
Greetings in Jesus name:
I have a dream that someday the church will awaken to see the tremendous need to serve and love one another first before we love the world around us. Does that sound strange to you? If you will stop to think about the purpose of the establishment of the church you will find that it is designed as a tool to show society how they should conduct themselves. We do that only by being an example among ourselves first how the Kingdom of God should work in this world.
The dream I speak of deals with a time when we really begin to see as we did as the Church from its first stages as depicted in the book of Acts. The church was beginning to understand the needs for personal sacrifice by putting one another first before themselves. In doing this they were beginning to see the fruits of that spirit among them in equipping one another in the love and experience of God's love by providing physically all of the need of all of the people through giving tithes and offering to God. We see that people like Barnabus who was able to supply extra gave of his surplus to God out of love. I believe the enemy soon saw that this kind of behavior would very soon find that he would no longer have the influence over someone who was in need and that the attitude that was quickly developing to love and care for others above themselves would destroy his hold on us. Satan immediately played his hand in the development of greed in the intent of the heart of mankind. I believe that is when he planted the first weeds in God's church, and the result scared the people into making any attempts to go beyond what was required for them to give.
Our faith is built upon not just our relationship with God, but with one another as well, and we have kind of dropped our relationship with one another within the modern church. I don't believe we have an investment made in one another today that would cause us to go out on a limb for someone not of our own blood or kin. In developing that attitude we have found ourselves boxed off from one another in trust and love, and in general destroying the concepts of becoming of one mind and heart that Jesus so passionately spoke of. I am constantly reminded of the words that Jesus spoke of as being the most important of all of God's commands "To love God with all of our heart, mind, and soul, and the to love one another as we love ourselves" Those words keep coming back to me when I deal with this subject because I see the nature of men when it comes to selfishness.
Like it or not we now live in an age where almost all people are going to need proof of Jesus being able to change real lives. In many ways, we as the Church must turn around these things that we have allowed to rule over us when it comes to self-protection from one another, and once again open up our arms to those standing right beside us. Do you know who the person really is who stands or sits next to you each Sunday in worship?. We call them brother or sister and yet we don't know their hearts or their troubles because we don't let ourselves find out who they are for fear of having to help them in some way. Many times we treat them as though they are already cared for by God so why should I be concerned? We many times are God's answer to their prayers and we simply pass them by on the other side.. I really need for each of us to think about what I am saying with a quiet heart.
May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
