LOVING SOMEONE AS MUCH AS YOU LOVE YOURSELF!
I send greeting in the name of Jesus who has shown us the kindness of the Father through His own life and blood given for the glory of God, and through the power of His Spirit.
I cannot but to be continually amazed by the lack of understanding among God's people that it takes a full commitment of our heart to one another through God's Holy Spirit before we can effectively love one another. We have seen the down cline of commitment to marriage over the years that have all but destroyed the sacrament of our families in this country, and that same lack of commitment is responsible the lack of commitment to one another within the church not only to each other but to God as well.
The word of God has warned us of the coming of this kind of lack of love and concern for one another. It is in a time when we feel as though we are in control of our lives that we stop seeking after God, and that becomes a time of great danger. It is never until there is nowhere else to turn that we are willing to seek help from a friend or an asset that we have saved. We use God's favor to use as an asset instead of a relationship. We have no need of God when we feel as though we are in control but that is a false security in that even now we do not have control of our lives, and we have no way of getting control outside of God's great favor and love for us. The problem is that for many who have been lulled asleep by this world they have no longer even tried to build upon the foundation of their relationship with God.
Let me ask you a question...if someone who was once said to be your friend dropped contact with they were for several years one day showed up asking for your favor as though you had never been apart would you tend to take time to check out if they were the same person, or see if they were just trying to use you? Why should God feel any different than you would? God does allow us to come to Him at any time for forgiveness if we are willing to ask and repent, but God is not a commodity that we can use for what we want out of this life; He is in a relationship with you. We often quote the golden rule of " Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" and yet we forget the simplicity of what that means. To God, it means to love one another as you would love yourself, or not to judge someone else with standards that you would not use to judge yourself. These are all parts of developing relationships of trust and love with God as well as with each other. It is my continued goal to get us to the point of understanding what that means within God's Kingdom here in this world as we remain in this world but not a part of this world.
Although many have forgotten we still have a witness to perform in this life by showing the world around us how to love someone as much as we love ourselves. To do that we have to cut out all of the stuff that we have been fighting about, and get back to the principals of what God has established us to be. I pray that we can begin to push toward that goal before we forget how to love someone else as much as we can love ourselves. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
