WHAT DID JESUS SAY ABOUT THE NEEDY?
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
This is an area where we really have been mislead...and while we may be indoctrinated by this world into believing that our main goal in this world is to feed the hungry and to save this planet; that is not what Jesus preached. Our main objective is that of being a witness to this world of what God has done for us, and then to allow the Holy Spirit to work through our lives to share that faith with others.
For some reason we have the mentality that our mission field is in every other part of our world than where we are right now. This gives us an opportunity to ship supplies and money off to somewhere else and allow us to feel better about our having done something of a good work for God. We are starting to get into an area of great importance for those who have played with lip service and efforts to follow Christ through their church attendance for years and years. We have made a big deal about raising money to go into a mission field and help those who cannot help themselves; which is a very good thing on the surface, but what about the real commission that we have to those whom we have te chance to really show the truth about Christ to within our lives? The real mission field is to demonstrate the light of Jesus within us on a daily basis to prove to those who see us everyday the transformation within our lives because of Christ. Jesus told us that if we do give to the needy around us to do it without any recognition what so ever...no fanfare is needed because it should not be done to show off for other men. When we do announce such things we have already received our reward. Matthew 6: 1-4 starts by letting us know that we always have a duty to our fellow man to help where we can; our world is filled with those who are in need, and that will unfortunately always be the case.
Once again the concentration for us as a child of God needs to be on the Kingdom of Heaven and upon our witness in Christ to those who live around us on a daily basis. WHY IS THAT SO IMPORTANT? It is important because we are held to a higher standard to live in Christ's teachings every day of our lives when people who we come into contact with every day. It isn't so easy for us to say one thing and then in our private lives live another thing when we are faced with that witness on a daily basis. It becomes the most important thing that we can do in this life to work together to
bear witness to this world of God's power within our life, but Jesus actually told us to do that through loving one another in Christ first, and not necessarily trying to love all of the rest of the world in His name. The Holy Spirit demonstrates His ability to transform their lives through watching how He has transformed the way our lives have been changed first. That includes the ways we treat one another within the church community first, and then to those who are right aaround us on a daily basis. When the world sees Christ painting a masterpiece through our lives together then they will be able to see the truth of what God has intended for all of us.
The bottom line is this: 1. We must be real as people toward our affections in Christ to one another; actually showing preference to one another over this world . 2. We must be able to be consistent in the things we say and do for more than a few days at a time. 3. When we fail, ( and we all do) we must place the blame on our own inability and not on some other cause. 4. We must allow God's Spirit the complete control over what we say and do at all times because He is the only one who can draw someone to Himself even through us. Today we cana easily look around us for a very few minutes to see someone who is needy that we can help. We don't have to ever worry about going to a mission field because we live in one when ever we walk out our doors in the day or night time. Let's all be missionaries togehter, because the fields are white unto harvest right now! May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
