THE POWER OF PRAYER

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

From the very start it was the power of prayer that gave Jesus the supernatural connection through God's Spirit.  Most of the time I hear people say Jesus was perfect because He was God!  While that is true Jesus was  also a man just like we are right now.  In fact He grew up and lived among us for 33 years as a man until His Crucifixion.

What we don't seem to get in all of this is that Jesus spent this time as a man to show us that what He was doing is something that we could all do as well if we could maintain faith enough to stay in close touch with God through the power of His prayer in the Holy Spirit.  Jesus told us on several occasions that we could do the things that He did as well if only we would allow ourselves to believe, and be one with God in the same ways that He was operating as one with God through the Holy Spirit.

For us as men and women our first thought is in being able to demonstrate the same power and authority that Jesus had in this physical world.  We automatically go to the idea of  doing miracles like healing and commanding mountains to remove themselves when really those things are merely shadows of what happens in the real power of God by tapping into the Spirit of God within us.  That kind of becomes a bi-product of our faith and understanding of God in His Spirit.  This works in the same way as our Spiritual fruit works; because it is a bi-product of our relationship with the Father that automatically produces Spiritual fruit .  It does not work in us like some kind of super power would, but it becomes a part of who it is we become in Christ.  My point it here that Jesus made the connection with God the Father and with the Holy Spirit in Him through His constant contact with them in prayer.  Jesus was actually demonstrating for us what it means to become transformed through the renewing of our mind and heart into new creatures which are Holy and acceptable to God.

I believe with all my heart that Jesus was trying to show us a  step by step process which would allow us to develop our minds and hearts in such a way that we could be transformed in the ways that were necessary for us to believe with even a grain of Mustard seed.  My dear friends God does not do anything without a direct purpose to it including spending 30 years showing us what it means to grow into someone who actually understands what it means to be a living sacrifice on a daily basis, which is what Paul calls our reasonable service.  For Jesus the power of prayer was not used as a grocery list of things that we need or want from God, but rather a way of feeding, watering, and otherwise allowing Himself to be prepared for the work in ministry to come.  In many different ways I am only starting to understand these things myself; but I do know that unless I start to approach prayer in the right way in my life I will have wasted a lifetime in notat all understanding what it means to be changed by my experience with God's Spirit living within me.

What we do and who it is that we are is meant to be changed over time to become new and different to this world.  Jesus knew that as we allow God's Spirit to take more control over us that we will no doubt be rejected by the world around us; who  by the way knows a lot more about that transformation than we may realize; at least in its most deep and sinister parts.  I can't look at prayer int the same ways as I used to because of this kind of revelation from God's Spirit within me.  I hope that you can also understand that for the most part we have only begun to scratch the surface of what it means to become transformed through our communications with God who is dwelling within us right now.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
